ok, so I went to pick n puyll and got myself a powersteering box. this one mounts in the inside of the frame. I thought I could make it work but theres no way. so I went back and tried to get one that mounted on the other side. I had no luck. I had no luck in the wanted section so I thought maybe someone in the ford section could help me. does anyone have a power steering box that they want to sell?

Thanks a lot

Go to any number of Bronco web links , tons of info out there. Also do a search on this board ! I'm a lucky schmuck and have stock p/s on my 74 , but swap out weak ass pump if you find a good box . Good luck :flipoff2:

Check all the EB houses, but plan on spending a lot of money. You can also use an inside the frame F150 box, very common. It's tight to the radiator and you might have to massage it with a hammer to get it to fit. Or there is the Toyota conversion, Scout conversion, Nissan conversion, the guts from one box to another conversion (www.bcbroncos.com), the Camaro conversion, the Lincoln conversion, the Astro Van conversion......plenty out there but the easiest and quickest will be the most expensive.

F150 sucks, it hangs down too low. Call Jim's Bronco Stable in Santa Clara. He has a bunch of boxes for a good price. Tell him Jack sent you!

Lure,
I have 2 complete power steering setups for sale for an EB using stock components. 1 has a rebuilt box from West Texas Off Road, 3.5 turns lock to lock, not used since rebuild. The other has a box that's currently in my '76. Let me know if you're interested.

There is also a tech article on using a Nissan box. The Nissan box is almost an exact duplicate of the EB box in size and appearance. Even the mounting bolt pattern is very close, I have been looking at the U pullit and you can get the NIssan boxes cheap. I think I may go this route myself.

Another option that I did was a Toy IFS box. Sits on the outside...fits nicely...use one existing bolt hole...cost 175.00 w/6month warranty from TAP Recycling in Rancho Cordova CA. It comes with the pitman arm too. I use it and a saginaw pump and a cooler. Turn lock to lock easy. 36's. I strongly suggest boxing/plating the frame!

Here's my write-up on the Toyota box install. It turned the 36's but with the 38.5's I need to port it for ram assist.

Yep,

That's what I have heared too. The assist is needed for 38's. Still not too expensive relative to other options...;) I'm not a big fan of 38's on a d44 which means more $$$ for the d60...but it has been done successfully by the lighter footed folk.
