This is a tech forum so try to bring "tech" into it or you will get bashed.

I'm not a mud guy but the truck looks like it does a damn good job at what it was built for.

and, is this grandpa kind of ....Grumpy ?

looks like it would do good on the trails too. It isn't too high and is geared correctly. Now twin turbo that sucker and make it really fast.

yep, the owner is a pretty old guy now, but he did have some success running the truck. Back then all the monster truck had regular old truck frames and leaf springs with a butt load of shocks. Most of them were full steel bodies too.

Anyways, cool truck you have there, and good luck with it. :smokin:

At least he posted in the correct forumn that his build is based on. And he was polite and cool on his introduction. Plus, I think its good looking platform, nice and low and as big tires as he can fit. I bet it does great in the turns and rotates on a dime. Thats how I would build a mudtruck if I ever built one. But to bad he is guilty by association. Good luck OP,

People need to get over themselves. I don't think we hate mud trucks on here even thought this is realy a rock crawling website. We don't like big gay trucks. For some reason people think they need 5ft of lift to make a rig work in the mud. Your rig actualy has a good suspension and looks like it works.

Personaly I woulden't get a set of tractor tires. I would get or have built some 38" paddle tires if you want to upgrade. But I would put $ into a good motor first. It will make any set of tires work better and boggers will stay on top with enough HP.

No, I don't even know where that is. I don't race, I just like to do a little muddin every now and then. I would like to get me another truck (looking at S-10's) so that I am not as worried about tearing stuff up on my dd, and maybe think about doing a little racing.

You should stick with the tires you have and spend extra money for extra HP

Whats wrong with it power wise guys? The motor sounds pretty strong, definately has a nice lopey cam in it and seems to turn those tires without a problem. That things bad ass, that second video is awesome, it tears up some serious shit there! Are you the one who drives it? Enjoy having your grandpa and doing things with him while you can, I havent had a grandpa since I was 11 and miss him like crazy! Lost my grandma when I was 16 and have no grand parents left. Awesome truck though, I like it. I know you posted what size motor and everything, but do you have a build sheet or any specs on it? Did you guys rebuild it or buy it how it is?

Not a bad looking truck. Back in middle/high school I used to help build mustangs with my grandpa. our last project before he died was a full tube chassis 93 notchback. He died 3 years ago from cancer, but up till about the last month he would get out there with me and work on it almost daily. Right now I still cant bring myself to go out to his/my grandma's shop and finish it. But one day when I get my $$$ situation worked out I'm gonna go out there and finish it for him the way he wanted to build it.

my question is, did he build it and you jsut hand him the wrenches? or did you actually go out there and get your hands dirty?

Theres alot to learn from the "old timers" out there. You are lucky you have him to learn from, alot of us between the ages or 15-25 arent so lucky...Too many guys our age dont want to be told whats right/wrong, and we jsut do it our way..you'd honestly be supprised how much you can learn from the old timers.

Wish you luck on the truck, I'm not into the whole mudding thing anymore, but they are fun to work on/race.

sorry to hear about your grandpa and i hope that you finish that car.
no i didnt just hand him the wrenches i did whatever i could, but i didnt do stuff like the welding. Before i started this truck i didnt even know what a transmission or radiator even was. But ever sense we built it i know ALOT more than alot of people do. I understand that i need to respect it and things are gonna break no matter what... So yeah i didnt just hand him wrenches i did get my hands dirty... good luck with that car!
