I have a 03 HO cummins with 75k on the clock and I am starting to worry about the lift pump. I have searched and some people say the 03-04 still have problems and some say they dont. My truck is only a tow rig and I just dont want to get stranded in BFE. So what do you say throw a FASS on it and forget it or ride it? By the way truck is bone stock!

Put a fuel pressure gauge on it.

I was just talking to a friend of mine about this last night. He went to an in tank system that only provides a bit over stock pressure, but is looking at installing an Air Dog (the original 'FASS' before the son took off on his own). He found several online for about $500, which is cheaper than what they retail for normally.
Better to do it now than get stuck somewhere..

My factory lift pump took a crap at 22k... If you've made it to 75k, consider yourself lucky, and buy an aftermarket pump now.

The stock dodge lift pump is crap. In the tank or out of the tank. Airdog is the way to go

You can get a AirDog 150 from any dealer now till 1/15 for $499, IMO its a great investment, you get more and steady fuel PSI, you get water seperation and better filteration

Its gone go out. Dont worry i'll tow all of us home wit my Ford. :flipoff2:
Just get the kit that puts your pump in the tank. Your lift pump will go out cause its pumpin fuel from way back then your injection pump will not be happy.

I had an 04 that was built in 03 and I was on my way to Vegas from Phoenix towing 3 new vettes and my pump crapped out on me around 30k. I had the pump replaced at Desert Dodge in Vegas I think. When they replaced the pump they put it in the tank. The truck now has around 275k on it with no problems. If you are worried about it put a fuel gauge in the truck so you can watch it.

The CP3 has the ability to draw fuel for itself even if the lift pump craps out, although you are right it will not be happy and should not be driven like this for long

Yep, any truck that does not already have an in tank pump that gets replaced by the dealer will be changed to an in tank pump

also, #2 needs more lube for the pumps longevity. i run a powerservice/2stroke mix for every tank.

I'll put the Dodge on the trailer and tow it home with the Yota before anything I own will ever be towed by a FORD! :flipoff2:
