: jeep trannys ???

i need to know what transmissions will bolt up to a 2.5 other then the ax-5, without an adapter plate, thanks

Second, I believe the only other tranny that will work would be the Chrysler 904 auto that was used in 4 bangers. Someone will surely correct me if Im wrong.

Answer: Nearly anything if you try hard enough, but since you said no adapter, how about anything that was bolted to a GM 60 degree V6, they share the same bellhousing pattern, and the manual trans bellhousing from a GM 60 degree V6 will allow use of many GM manual transmissions, another option would be a 700R4 automatic from a 2.8, if you snagged it from the right S-10, you could use the whole 700R4 & NP231 in place of you AX-5 and NP231

You will have to rig the bellhousing of a new tranny to accept a CPS sensor. This throws a kink in the whole bolt-on plan.

Yeah, not much of a kink, I cut the section with the CPS mount out of my old AX-5 bellhousing and was able to bolt it on over the Chevy bellhousing, no problem.
