my dodge springs are 2"1/2 wide and 24" dead center where the axle mounts up. the rear ford springs are 2"1/2 wide and offset 24" on one side of the axle 31"1/2 on the other. i need some cheep springs.

Well you could have answered this yourself if you thought for a minute.
If your axle is going to push forward 6"s, does your front driveshaft extend out that much? probably not.

i want to move the front mounts not the axle. 7.5"

Well you kinda failed to mention moving your mounts and not just swapping springs.
Its a simple answer, how far is your axle going to move forward after whatever you do? once you get a measurement go see what the total extension is on your front driveshaft. If there is enough for it to connect back onto the axle yoke and still have enough extension for when the axle drops and flexes, then your golden.

If you are leaving the shackles at the back (I assume you would) and put the long side of the spring toward the rear, your axle will roll under/forward as it droops. This can cause u-joint bind and the need for a longer slip joint in the shaft.
