Dana 80 in the back of the Dodge is open with 3.55's. What would you guys do for your tow rig? Lock it? LSD? Are those even options? This is a daily driver, commuter, and tow rig

ARB just came out with a locker for the d80 w/ 37 spline axles. That's what i'm going for in my motorhome.

Here's a possible option:

I gotta agree with Jimmy on this one. Leave that truck alone. Don't lift it or mess with anything. Too nice of a rig to start fawking with it.

Good plan. I could have used a locker or winch when I did a 3 wheel stand with my Class C earlier this year. Still have to build some armor for the rear corners. Lift the rear about 2" too.

There is a 35 spline Detroit available for it but I don't recomend it for the tow rig.
It works great for the trail rig though.

I'm going with the arb so i can use it at truckheaven and for New Years. The sand is not to friendly with 14000 pound motorhomes. If i have an arb the i have the equivelant of factory 4 wheel drive.

A few months ago I inquired about aftermarket lockers for the D80 in the rr of my Cummins. I could have ordered the factory Trac-Lok for it, but have never been impressed by the unit...in anything. So, I have 3.55's with open/open. When unloaded in 2wd, the 505 ft/lbs of torque can break a wheel loose very quickly.
The only 'locker' of note then was an aftermarket Power Lock, which I have a lot more respect for than a Trac-Lok. The clutches can be preloaded for more or less slip, and they tend to last longer. An ARB sounds like the best option, if expensive. I'm rolling about 14,000 lbs. when pulling a car trailer with my CJ8 on it. Occasionally have to go to 4wd when pulling the trailered rig on dirt roads. If you go ARB, keep us posted on it's success.
regards, as always, jefe

I agree with you on a trash lok Jefe...never been too impressed with them. I would like to have one, but not for $ I have the same setup as you, except I do not have the HO motor, and consequently I have a NV4500. ARB is not an option for this truck, I would not even spring for one on the Heep, I am definitely not going to spend it on the Dodge. How's it do open?
