I just bought a 727 TF , it has an AMC bolt pattern and was mated to a Dana 20, so the 727 had an output gear. I took the gear off of the tailshaft and the spline matches my dana 300, but the t-case adapter on the 300 is all wrong for the 727. Over on the jeep hardcore page I was told that jeep never put a d 20 with a 727. And was also told that some IH's had the 258 I-6 and that being supremely knowledgeable, you BINDERS might be able to help..??

You probably have a Scout II 727 that was behind an AMC 258. Is the t-case adatper the 'texas' bolt pattern? That is the only option you could get with an IH -- so if it isn't the texas pattern try the Dodge guys :flipoff2:

What did your D300 come out of?

It was behind a T-176 4-speed in a CJ7

I have read about these before, you have a scout 727/20, it is a different tail than the 727 in the full size jeep, you could only get the 400/20 combo in fsj's, no 727/20 was available in Jeep automatics, a jeep 727 will bolt right up to a dana 300, but it does need to be lifted 4" or so because the front driveshaft runs very close to the wider trans pan on the 727, that is what I have in my scrambler. If you have a driver side drop then the pan is not a problem.
As far as an adapter, there are probably some out there, but unless you have a bunch of money in the tranny you have, it would be easy to find one out of a waggy and bolt it right up. Or just run the 727 with a 20.
Probably a binder guy on here needs that IH 727.
I hope that helps.
