Alot of the people down here are really good guys. The Mud vs. Rock thing is kinda crazy. I understand what most guys on PBB are concerned about saftey (which in alot of cases is thrown out the window) with the big trucks. But not all of them are built carelessly. Mine still isn't finished but drew up lots of excitement for things are not finished yet. And about the Mud vs Rocks thing, We have Mud, no rocks, so we build stuff for Mud. Cali guys and everyone in that area have rocks and not as much mud, they build for rocks. I've been to tellico and kentucky Crawling and had a blast, wheeling in general is fun. You should see the trucks do the tri-truck in real life if you thing the video is nasty!

yeah the Mud v. Rock thing is crazy sometimes but it all depends on what you like to do, and yeah the safety thing is thrown out the window sometimes but there are a lot of top notch builds down in florida (dale baughs, le, spencer at wakulla offroad, spare parts doug, mopar mike, just to name a few have all been in for many years and they know how to do it) and its not for me but i go out to local trails sometimes and watch guys on the rocks tear stuff up just like we do in the mud

Yeah, some of the initial flamming may be rough, but once everyone sees you guys are legit (big trucks-who they will say are gay, hot ass beotches, heavy right foot, big power, trucks that are abused and survive, etc) you will be accepted.

Nearly every mud truck on here is a hacked up peice of shit, most of the time we don't even give it too much attention. You want to see flaming of vehicles you should see what we do to other crawlers, its so bad the owners of the hack ass crawlers probably have all logged off and committed suicide in some grissly manner. Everything is fair here, mudders in comparasin get off easy compared to other rock crawlers. We don't rag on how people spell either really. We really rag on poor grammar. Not the occasional fuck up, but total disregard for the english language. Its like being punched in the face trying to read some peoples drivel.

Only to posers, people with unsafe vehicles that put negative labels on the entire offroad community, and newbs who start shit for no reason. Most of us are kind of interested actually in seeing some of the better mud racers builds etc. Theres also quite a few mud guys who have been regulars here for years

I grew up knowing nothing but mud. Up until a couple of years ago I didn't know what rock crawling was. A buddy of mine discovered it first, then introduced me to it. I have been on two trips so far, one to Barnwell mountain, and the other to Clayton, OK. (just this past weekend). I can honestly say that rock crawling is an incredible experience. The people that do rock crawling are good people too. If everybody would just settle down we could all learn from each other.

As far as the flaming goes, take it with a grain of salt, or you'll never get to know this place.:grinpimp:

I think there's a couple of things going on with the mud thing. First, there HAVE been a bunch of hack-job mud trucks on here posted primarily by guys new to the sport. I think if the old-timers had limited their comments to "your truck sucks", everything would have been fine. Rather, some spent more time degrading the SPORT itself, forcing guys like me to jump into to defend guys who really DID need a spanking :laughing: And the result is that the board got a rep as anti-mud and the guys on established SERIOUS mud forums just stayed away. I'm hoping that changes.

One other thing about the machines themselves is that mud "events" (competition or otherwise) typically takes place in a relatively small area. No matter what you break or how stuck you get, you're rarely out of sight of your trailer. Moreover, since mud is very prevalent in agricultural areas, almost everyone HAS a trailer already that they use to haul tractors, etc. That makes it very easy for a guy to get into the sport VERY cheaply, and if his ride is slapped together, it really doesn't matter because the trailer is always right there.

OTOH, if you go out on trail rides, if you have a POS, you can get stuck in the middle of NOWHERE with no easy way to get out. Many guys have tried it, but after one bad experience, they typically fix what they have to to make it reliable. It's not necessary for mud guys to make this next step oftentimes because again, the trailer is always right there.

That said, the new trend for "rock crawlers" is the private ORV park. And as with the mud guys, these folks are rarely very far from their trailers. As a result, I've noticed a substantial increase in the number of complete POS rock crawlers in the Midwest. The sport is now open to a smaller budget than it once was, so that's the natural thing to occur. Interesting, eh?

on the subject of pos mud trucks. Yes there are tons of examples that are worthy of the flames but some people jump completely over the tech problems and degenerate into throwing inbreeding jabs instead of giving the helpful advice that the person may desperately need.

Yes there will be a-holes on both sides and we should all learn to laugh about it and keep things lite.

Remember, people don't post pics of their mud trucks to pi$$ you off. they are proud of their creations and like to show off a little. if there's something unsafe or wrong feel free to let them know. Personal attacks are when people get most offended, especially when the attacks are from someone who doesn't even know them.

On the butthurt subject, sounds kinda dumb but i understand the premise. Just don't get all butthurt about mud trucks on your "extreme rockcrawling" site and maybe we can co-exist.
