Those are the trucks that are on the TGW, and Matt Steele on the mic. This was a TGW event.

I'm not flaming I just don't understand why some of those trucks need to have the bottom of there frame sitting 2' above their tires

The FL guys who have to deal with swamps typically do that so they don't swamp their engines when idling through 7' deep water holes. Typically, the guys who build specifically for competition are much lower to the ground - not uncommon to see a truck with 44's on back that'll easily fit inside a 6'8" garage.

looks fun as hell...

i can appreciate the work that is needed to prep a truck to withstand something like that.

It's pretty much to keep the engine dry. I can't count the number of times we have had to turn around because it got too deep for the smaller rigs on 44s. Here is an image of part of a local trail to give you an idea. Take a look just to the right of the number 2. Yep, that is a pond in the middle of the trail. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y55/grandeyota/corbett2.jpg
Keep in mind this image was taken during the dry season (Feb)

Here is a shot I took from the deck of a buggy. It's just miles of trails like this that inspire the taller rigs.

I'm not saying flops don't happen, but you have to remember just how flat most of FL is. I have to drive hours to see elevation changes that aren't bridges, highway overpasses, landfills, or beach dunes. Sure the rigs don't make sense in other parts of the country, but those rigs wouldn't really do well here. There are plenty of places for smaller rigs to go, but the taller ones go where they want.

To keep with the theme of the thread, here is the reason I tear all the buttons off the top of every baseball cap I own :flipoff2:
