How do you mud proof your radio or CB?? Or how do you have it mounted to be mud/water proof??

Has anyone found a waterproof CB yet?? Radio Shack used to but quit making it..

my cb is mounted to the headliner, if it gets wet i have other problems

i have a little flap of leather that hangs over my radio to keep mud out of it... simple

For the chevy guys with 73-87 trucks and blazers you can get a head liner that has a slot in it for a radio (am/FM) but you could use it for a cb. and like said above if you have mud up to the head liner you have bigger problems! you can get it out of LMC TRUCKS catalog.

Something like this will work for the radio, and possibly modified to work with a cb.

keep the windows half way up and doors shut..... and mount the radio as high as you can be it to the roof or top of the dash(mines on the dash) granted Im not strictly into mud.

I sell the cd player covers and marine grade head units.

Or you can skip the head unit all together and hook you iPod directly into a marine grade amp.
Otterbox makes completely waterproof cases for most iPods.

Radio shack sells a Water Resistant radio made by uniden . Its for motorcycles and boats. I know a guy who had one on his honda it worked pretty well. If possible mount is as high as you can and put dieletric grease in all the plug connections as well

radio shack used to have a "water resistant" cb friend of mine had one (operative word here is "HAD") until he had it mounted down on the center console in his jeep and had water up over the seats. mine is currently mounted on the crossbar of my cage, that is up a little higher than the stock dash would have been. this radio has survived for many years, and still works somehow. get it up as high as you can, might even check at some junkyards in the factory custom vans and see if you can locate a plastic or fibreglass overhead consold and cut it to fit your truck. i did this in my old 78 bronco, and kept accesory wiring and radio up out of harms way

Yeah those radios are water resistant not water proof. Uniden make the radios for radio shack . They will take a down pour but thats is once you submerge them game over .

A low-buck approach would be a cheap external speaker and a gallon ziplock bag. Wrap the CB in the bag, poke a small hole for the mic & speaker wires and you're good to go. Keep the bag unzipped when you're in the dry areas so it doesn't get too hot, then zip it closed when you're getting into the muck.

I've seen Tupperware style containers modified to work as waterpfoof containers. They have holes drilled for the cables and then siliconed. The lid is left off for normal usage and can be snapped on to waterproof the unit.

I have seen similar for marine radios. Has a cover that flips down and slides in.

Maybe a "marine cb" would be what you want?
