my current truck is just a trailered truck, i dont wash it. on the way out of the offroad park there is a stream i just go up and down a few times to knock all the crap out from under it.

at my old job we had a field next door and a pressure washer

I hate mud. The reasons are pretty understandable. But I wheel in Maine and everything is covered in mud if it isn't covered in snow, so I deal.
But... I loaned my rig to my neighbors who wanted to go wheeling with more folks than could be carried with their own TJ. I figured he'd let his wife drive mine and he'd take theirs. She's alot less destructive than he is. But he ended up behind the wheel of mine and the results kinda pissed me off:

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c4/aaronsbarker/Jeeping/IMG_2025.jpg

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c4/aaronsbarker/Jeeping/IMG_2028.jpg

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c4/aaronsbarker/Jeeping/IMG_20261.jpg

During his attempt to clean it, he used a pressure washer INSIDE the cabin. He fried the in-dash inverter, ruined the windshield wiper switch, stripped the leather off the wheel and missed most of the mud under the carpets. He never lifted the hood to clean there and that helped fry some electronics and ruin the bearings in the alternator and A/C compressor. Pretty much the worst possible cleaning I've ever seen. He still owes me. I figure I'm going to borrow his wife and return her as torn up and used as he treated my bitch.

Call me an idiot, but I prefer, if I have to play in it, to keep the hardtop on:
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c4/aaronsbarker/Jeeping/IMG_0599.jpg
And clean it up afterward:

A great trick is to put the sprinkler under it overnight. It knocks most of it off and softens the rest.

I find that a pressure washer peels off my rattlecan paint. Gotta be carful with it... or have more paint...

A easy fix and a great preventive measure to take before going Muddin is to spray the hell out of the engine compartment with Pam cooking spray, do not get on the exhaust manifolds, but it makes cleaning up a snap with a low pressure washer....

That engine compartment makes me cringe !!!!

It sucked. I'm making a new truck this winter with inner fenders etc to keep the mud off. when I went to put it on the trailer the mud on the intake manifold had dried enough to cause the throttle to stick open. Lucky I was still in park:eek:

Can't compare to most of you guys but this was just a 92 rodeo I had that I put a set of trx's on. It was just my DD/beater a few years ago. Broke out the back window the day the pics were taken trying to get unstuck in a mudhole..I couldnt even open my door. Couldnt see shit and hit the tree behind me a little too hard. I loved driving it around like that though...it was NEVER clean. People always stared I loved it. The inside esp front door panels looked pretty much like the outside did...

Well, when you end up with mud on the OTHER side of the air filter because it works as a mud trap, then yeah, you can blame it. Worked great in water and saved my butt a few times as well, but it cost me a motor in the end!

Didn't say it was actually messed up, the ARB version is just not great for mud unless you modify it a little, at least in my case. If you like yours, keep it, mine is gone, and good riddance.

mid camping adventure :smokin::smokin:

had a little "incident"

after 13 hours in the same hole trying to extract a fucking dumb motherfucker who i work with in a CJ7 w/ 35 boggers on stock axles with welded spiders front and rear.... :shaking:

broken shit award:
drag link bent like a U, no steering available now.
left front steering ujoint, inner and outer shaft ears ripped off
right front steering ujoint, inner and shaft ears ripped off, outer ears stretched.
right side steering knuckle ripped off, via upper balljoint going to better place cause the ujoint was stuffing its way up its ass.
right side brake line ripped off, thus no breaks
rear driveshaft twizzle sticked off

that was the jeep.

me:
rear ubolts stretched allowing 9inch to rotate, ripping off ear on the yoke

other jeep helping me:
right side steering ujoint breaks, seperating balljoints but we're able to press them back in after flipping the stubshaft backwards to hold the unit bearing together (dana 30)

so CJ on my bumper, im acting like a tow truck, i only have front axle to pull (open diff) a CJ7 with the front axle dragging the ground, and the other jeep in front of me pulling in 3wd cause his stub shaft was broken. it sucked balls.

BTW i have a pretty good set of pictures in my build thread on how to keep the engine bay clean with sheilds.

the airflow thru the radiator became an issue, since both inner fenders are completely sealed, and there is a mud shield from the front core support to the transfercase.

i ended up cutting holes in the cowl and using the vents under the windsheild to vent engine heat.
no overheating issues now!

also there is a mud sheild that will bolt to the core support and flop over the grill, bolts to the hood. its when i drive it back and forth from the house to mud drag the truck in competition. i cant drive it around too much obviously cause of NO airflow, but it works incredibly well keeping the radiator clean, and the amount of mud going thru the radiator onto the engine.

this is the key:

buy a hudson sprayer (those pesticide sprayers w/ the pump on it) @ walmart or something for 10 bucks or less.
go fill it with diesel. spray the ENTIRE TRUCK down with diesel.... frame, axles, body, EVERYTHING. the mud will literally slide off, and when you pressure wash it @ the quarter car wash it will almost cut your time in half. trust me on this!

Dude.....your fuckin truck looks like the forest floor LOL. Thats by far the best one Ive seen in a long time. Cant even tell what the hells in your bed, looks like maybe a tow strap and god knows what else lol. Good work!!

the sad thing is i actually tried not to get it muddy cause i knew id have to clean it out. every single inch of the place back there was deep mud. i scraped alot of it off before i loaded it on the trailer.

and yeah not to much in the back, tow strap, tool box type deal in the back and a spare

you must not play very hard in teh mud.

i run a mud flap from coresupport to the transfer case screwed to the frame.
both inner fenders are bolted from the frame to the fenders.
i even run a complete truck mat that bolts to the hood, goes over the grill and wraps under to the frame/coresupport.

i still get mud in there. then again im hitting holes at 30+ mph 2-3 foot deep when racing in the pits.

Current pickup-

The tan truck was painted with mud several times, the blue pickup hasn't quite gotten the same treatment yet.

Got the Bronco finished and wheeled the piss outa it. 5 minutes later I tried moving it from this very spot up to the power washer (waiting in line) but the starter didn't agree with me and I had to replace it with the truck looking like this... :shaking:

i run my stock air cleaner with the lid fliped so it works as a open air filter. when i would get ready to hit the mud i would flip it back closed

I would on my current setup but the stock air cleaner i have is like 6" tall and when i flip the lid it hits my hood. I'll have another lineup on a shorter one though

I know this isnt a rig picture...but its the dirtiest after picture of me.. I am unhooking the tow rope to get towed out @ the 2009 Teepee Creek Mud Bogs, the mud was super thick and I was the smallest truck in the 750 class!! I placed 5th out of 9 guys (well one other girl who took 2nd!!), so I didnt do that bad but not that great either!!
