Hey!

I just got a 1984 Ford F-150 4x4 that says "BOSS HOSS" on the side and has "351" decals. Has anyone ever seen one of these? I'm assuming it's just an appearance package. Pics are here:

It's got a 4-speed manual trans, and the owner said it had "granny" first gear. Would this be an NP435, or were there other 4-speed manuals offered?

And any ideas about what T-case should it have?

Sorry so many questions, I really am a Ford newbie! :D

I'm going to be parting this truck out (it's really rusty), so if you see anything you want, let me know - I'll put it in the For Sale section soon.

Thanks!

I have heard conflicting reports, so who knows what the cutoff year was? And why would Ford have offered both transmissions in the same model year(s)? Who knows, stranger things have happened. :D I have definitely seen posts of an '85 and an '87 saying they had NP435.

I'll let you know when I figure out what I have. It is definitely either T-18 or NP435 (was looking at it from under the truck with a flashlight last night), but I guess I need to check the shifter plate on top of the trans (NP435 has an aluminum plate).

I did find the tag on the T-case, and it's a NP208.

Quick way to tell if it is a T-18 or NP-435.
For Reverse gear;If you shift to the right and toward the dash it is a T-18. If you shift it to the right and toward the bench seat then it is a NP-435.
My '84 Bronco had the NP-435, with 1987 as the last year I've found as a year of availibility in parts books.

Checked the placement of Reverse, and it's toward the seat, so it's a 435.

Thanks again!
