Ok, I bought this electric linelock from Aggro's recommendation. I hooked it up, and hit the brakes, and brake fluid squirted out of the fitting I have an arrow pointing to. After taking it back apart, it became obvious what the problem was. See the next pic:

The brakeline doesn't seat against anything. So what kind of fitting do I need?

sounds sweet! Will it work with my new one ton CV?
dirtrod 09-08-2001, 10:04 PM you probably need a 1/8 npt to brakeline flare adapter.
SonoraBob 09-08-2001, 10:08 PM That looks like a compression nut. But could that be?
Adam Ant 09-08-2001, 10:09 PM if You are Going to use this Looks Like You need to Adapt it from Pipe thread to flare Common Ace Hardware Shtz,,,, seems like All brake Shtz are Like this!! That sucks they don't send them with the Unit???
Lance 09-08-2001, 10:12 PM anyone got a pic of the adaptor (to give the idiot at NAPA)?
Old Scout 09-08-2001, 10:13 PM Dirtrod has it. They look like this:

IMUZ ME 09-08-2001, 11:45 PM Got mine at Reibes! They have all the good stuff behind the counter! Flared stuff and even some of the off the wall sized fittings! Get it! Lance don't feel bad I did the same thing when I hooked mine up!!
slvregl 09-09-2001, 12:52 AM Lance, food for thought..I have a line lock simalar to that..according to all the info. I can find..they are a limited use lock at best. My friend put his to the test..He left it turned on for about 90 sec in his driveway..The bronco started rolling backwards and the Micro unit was very hot to the touch. Some actually say they are not to be left on for more than 60 sec. Just a heads up!
NECKSTER 09-09-2001, 01:38 AM Lance, the part is called a "seat". I have the same line lock and have left mine on for hours without any problems.
H8monday 09-09-2001, 07:48 AM Neckster,
What kind of line locks are those.
Where do ya get em, and how much.
Im thinking about setting up a pair of them to be used as cutting brakes as well as E brakes at the rear.

Mine will be used as only a "cutting brake" for competition use. Parking brakes are and I have no use for an actual parking brake. There was a thread about this unit a couple of weeks ago, and Aggro said that he has left his on for weeks without trouble, fyi.
I got it from Jeg's for about $40.
Aggro 09-09-2001, 07:33 PM EXCEPT.....If you leave them on a long time...Your battery will die!! Looks like the board is quicker than me. Good to see you got the right fitting. Or at least a pic of it!
smurfsdad 09-09-2001, 07:42 PM its just a solenoid right. it should hold until the battery goes dead
NoBrainR 09-09-2001, 07:55 PM That depends, is it power to open, or power to close? If it were power to open, could be a good deterant.
onetoncv 09-09-2001, 08:02 PM yes lance it will- i just need to machine your flange - piece of cake- jess
71RCKCRZR RYAN 09-09-2001, 08:19 PM WELL SINCE NOBODY ANSWERED YET......THERE IS AN O RING THAT GOES IN BETWEEN THE PEICE HELD AND THE MAIN PIECE.......THE IN AND OUT ARE NPT......I HAVE MINE HOOKED UP TO A TOGGLE THAT POWERS THE TEMP BUTTON...
WONT HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT LEAVING IT ON........

Parking brakes are SAFETY brakes, you fool.
Every street vehicle has 'em... and even agricultural equipment comes with 'em. Running with only service brakes is a gamble...

Gordon 09-10-2001, 12:44 PM A SM420 is a safety device too. Slam that thing in first and you have a better ebrake than most cable operated, half a drum brake actuating POS's

Yeah.
* Ask H8Monday how his tranny worked as an e-brake after he blew it apart.
* Ask Nasvik how well his engine-braking worked after he revved his clutch disk to the moon (in a bunch of little pieces).
* Ask anyone who's just spit a driveline into chunks how they feel about engine braking.
* Hell, for that matter, ask Lance about his line-lock after he's ripped a brake hose off and pissed the fluid away (BTDT).
Emergency brakes are handy things to have in emergencies. Parking brakes are handy things to have when you want to park your rig and crawl under it to work on it.
I've run without an e-brake. Yeah, you *can* live without one... but with a little bit of planning, why would you?
Slam that (420) in first and you have a better ebrake than most cable operated, half a drum brake actuating POS's
You still running drums? That's your cross, not mine. Disk brakes all the way, baby! Lighter, better... oh yeah, and did I mention the good-holding e-brake?

Whatever. Never needed one in 11 years of wheelin, never will. I'll leave the parking brakes to my Saturn.
rockmutt 07-09-2002, 07:16 PM Lance; where did you purchase the 12 volt Line lock brake
Thanx
