i just picked up a rear scout 44 for cheap. i got to pullin it apart last night and it looks like its 2 pairs of axle seals. the ones that are on the shafts beween the bearing and then another in the housing. im going through this thing and want to go through it completely. also what kind of LSD came in this axle i have never heard of one in scout 44's before. any info or words of advice would be appreciated

The earlier Scout II 44's had the outer seal at the bearing and also an inner seal by the carrier bearings (like a front 44). This design was intended to be maintenances frequently (pull shafts and re-grease the bearings). Somewhere around the mid-70's, they ditched the inner seal and let the gear lube from the diff lube the axle bearings. Pull the inner seals and trash them and install a Timken SET10 or equivelent TAPERED roller bearing.

Trash-loc or Power-loc were both offered as options.
