Hey I am new to Pirate4x4 and need a little help. I have a 71FJ40 with chevy 350 engine, turbo 400 trans, and 3 speed Landcruiser tranfer case. I am wanting lower gears for crawling. What are my options other then Atlas? Thanks for all of your help.

Go to the Advance Adapters website and check out the Orion t case. Also try ih8mud.com a great cruiser web forum!

I vote for good tranny cooler and use the torque converter.

Personally I would just get an atlas or stak if you wanted to replace factory. Problem is the rear diff is factory offset. So it will have to be changed or have bad drive line angles.

If you buy the orion you will eventually want front wheel drive only. Just my $.02

i think the orion from AA would be your best bet. of course, that all depends on what the rest of the rig has ( tires, lift, lockers,....). if you're going extreme, then a t-case with front digs might be nice. if it's a moderate wheeler and still street driven, then the orion will do the trick and do so very well.

Center the rear diff and go atlas or dana 300. I'm not that familiar w/the stak. Offset rear outputs are a bad design and will always be weak. IMO, the Orion is too expensive for its benefits or lack there of. my .02ct
