Anyone have room for a passenger?? My Scrambler won't be done by then and I would like to go with a decent group like it appears you have going. Let me know. Thanks.

I may be able to swing that weekend.

What trails are planned? I see most are equipped well enough to tackle some of the harder trails.

Probably start off with rattler, and wampum that everyone can go on...
Then after that, those of us that want to will probably hit M-Trail, M-Extension and Pipe bender one morning. Also Voodo Pass, and Pick your poison at some time. Would also like to try undertaker, and take a look at Death Valley, but we will see how things go.

phil if you want to take a look at DV you can stop en route to cherokee ridge (to get to voodoo/rattler) and walk through the woods on the right. It is intense.

Voodoo can be run on 32" bfg at's with 20psi in the rear tires when locked... i know bc i did...

whompum is a walk for the group listed.

M is nice (havent run it yet) but htere is fun for all.

Good luck. Wish i could join yas..

If I can put my $.02 in.

You can do Voodoo with 33's and open. I know I did, but it took a long time. I would recomend 33's and one locker for Voodoo and 33's and 2 lockers for M. I would even go as far to say you should have 35's to go on M or it will be a long day. Everyone in the group should be able to do Wampum and Ratter without a problem. Pick You Poison should not be too bad if you can get past the entrance.

I would like to see the guys on 38's do Undertaker, I know I am not ready to drop into that trail.

If you are not familure with the park Wampum, PYP and M-Trail and pretty close to each other. Voodoo, Rattler and DV are on the far side of the park. HTH

i ran PYP (well 1/2 of it till my engine died), on 33's locked f/r with no spotting. I dont think the entrance was all that bad. I took the high side (right while facing it) and never lifted a tire, it was a bit tipsy though.

I plan to run M on 33's.

Voodoo is def doable with some good spotting. there are some trickey spots.

I love rattler I/II

Thanks for the info guys. I have only been to Paragon twice. Both times on 38's. So I don't know what you need minimums for the trails...

I ran Whumpum and M-trail on 33s with ez-locker front and trac-loc rear. M was tough but very doable. Whumpum was a blast.

I have been to Paragon twice.

Eric, are you talking about this Sunday, 9/1, or the day that this post is talinkg about? I can't do this Sunday, but may be available for the ride on 9/22. Maybe we can get a locker in the front for the 22nd?! I'll install it for free if you want.
BTW, how has the thing been running since the work was done? Everything OK?

I was actually talking about both :D . I am going this Sunday for sure.
It seems that the wife needs to travel for business the 22nd. So, we are going to try to get a babysitter for the 21st during her dentist appointment. Are you in for that Saturday??
About the locker, that is a great offer, but I don't want to spend the money right now (saving for the house, move, ...) and I only want an OX or ARB (no need to weaken the axles on the street).
Her engine still runs warm (like 215-220), when I drove home I put on the heater from time to time and that worked like magic (luckily I had the top down ). :mad3: As long as I stay around 65 there is no problem at all, but you know in NJ, you gotta go 70 just to go with the slow flow.
Maybe I need to clean the engine and the radiator a bit better.
Hope you can make it Saturday the 21st.

We will be leaving from Canada tomorrow morning, and arriving tomorrow afternoon.
We'll be staying at the comfort in, in Hazleton, and will meet everyone at the main staging area in the park at 9:30 am on Saturday - a little later to accommodate the people who are arriving late Friday night. We will be meeting at 9:00am Sunday and Monday.

I will be driving a green TJ Sahara with 38's on it - license plate is 1TONJEEP

See you all there.

Had a great time at Paragon. Good to meet some of you. Otter - you crazy man! That Pebbles trail is REALLY cool.

Over course of the weekend I broke a D60 30 spline outer shaft, and cracked my tapped/welded steering box cap.
35 spline shafts are on order ;)
BTW - those of you that asked, I can get you a price of $329 for the 35 spline shafts, hubs, and needle bearings (everything to convert to 35 spline outers) from Drivetraindirect.com

Here are some pics of rattler, M, Sluice, and Pebbles.

Looks like you had a great time. Those pics are awesome.

Thanks to the guys from DeJa for guiding me again through the Paragon trails.
Especially Aaron and Andrew for being the trailguides and great spotters. This was my first time doing Whompum and it is the most enjoyable trail I have done. Next time, I want to try the exit on Lower Whompum. Hey, I'll have to be strapped out somewhere for the first time right.

The guy with the stock Sahara was with me. I told him it would be a tough trail, but he wanted to do it. Overall he did real good I think. No damage except a little scratch on the plastic Sahara rocker strip. He needed a lot of rockstacking but made it. Sorry if he held you guys up too much.

Look at the pics at:http://groups.msn.com/JansencarPage/paragon09212002.msnw

Feel free to use some pictures or post a link on the DeJa website or somewhere else.

Thanks again and enjoy the pictures,

Eric

I thought you were pretty crazy too - seemed like you were INTENTIONALLY driving the rig on it's side ;)

Had fun wheeling with you, hope to see you again next spring.

My 35 spline outers and hubs are on the way, and I am tapping the steering box in the body instead of the caps.
So hopefully something new and exciting will break next time :D

Great pics...I made a trip to Paragon this summer...my 1st trip there. In my opinion better than Tellico. Question for Phil...tell us a little about the steering set up on 1tontj. What tierod end are you using on the pitman arm end of your draglink? And who's rockram?

Yep, I built the steering. I made the high steering arms out of 1" thick flat bar, tie-rods are made by me also (I sell custom tie-rods cheap ;) ), they use the larger full size blazer ends (with one reamed out to fit the drag link).
The ram and hoses are from a local farm supply, and I tapped my own steering box.

You can also buy a similiar ram kit from TheLakeRat on this board for a reasonable price, if you don't want to piece togather your own stuff.

Phil
You could buy a ram kit from lakerat some tie-rod ends from autozone or whatever, and I'll build you some super beefy tie-rods to go with em ;)
