What kind do you use? Do you spend the $$ on synthetic stuff or do you grease on the cheap?

I run into a lot of water so I use the synthetic in my driveshaft u-joints. It just seems to hold up better. The wheel bearings get repacked after every few trips so I use what is on hand or cheap.

i just use an off the shelf marine grease its worked for me so far. i dont see the point in spending extra money on stuff you replace on a regular basis anyway:flipoff2:

i have this 2 gallon can of mongomery wards grease from the 50s. i just use that crap cause someone gave it to me :laughing:

just dont do like a buddy of mine did. he used grease for his excavator witch is made for impact and abrassion, not for wheel bearings. tosted them in the first 50 miles, LOL never seen bearings and race's weld them selve together.

me i use standard marine blue grease, never had a problem. not looking forward to filling the rockwell ends. any one know how many tubes you put in each end???

Doesn't marine grease burn up in wheel bearings though?

I would rather spend a extra couple bucks on red and tacky than replace wheel bearings :D

I recommend Cat Ultra 5 Moly Grease, contains 5% moly, water resistant against fresh and salt, designed for high-speed/high-load applications and offers corrosion protection.

i use Shaffer's non synthetic it is very tacky

I just run standard on pretty much everything, except for my CTMs. Although, I re-grease very regularly. I run whatever that synthetic green monkey snot excuse for grease that Jack recommends on the Ctms.

Green Grease specs out a little better than Red N Tacky but I doubt you'd ever notice a difference.

How well does that green grease do in roller bearings and in the Birfield?

Muh...I use cheap marine wheel bearing grease and CRC moly grease for my birfields. My real secret is that I don't use greasable tie rod ends, balljoints (on my daily driver), u-joints, etc. Why? Because I have not seen ANY gain in longevity with the greaseable units. I happen to believe that keeping the parts seals so water can't get in and grease get out is just as effective as greasing them ever 3000 miles. I'm probably going to get blasted for that opinion, but look at factory rigs. Balljoints typically last 100,000 miles on a front wheel drive car. You put greasable Moogs in which are a quality product and you're replacing them again at 150,000 miles. I'm just sayin'......

Jess from High Angle recommends Prolong in the 1410 CV in my front shaft, so I'm running that in my shaft, Lucas Red and Tacky everywhere else.

x3 on the green grease! NO QUESTION! Awesome shit for mudders. Way better than lucas oil for water.(it passes the water washout test, lucas & others don't) ZERO wear on 4 ball test!(ie lucas 0.80 wear!) My rocks have 5+ tubes or something like that in each knuckle:laughing:
