If you tie your cage into the frame, and the body comes loose (say your running a BL) what's going to happen? My imagination say's extreme carnage. So wouldn't you be better building a cage that would stay in the body?

If the cage is tied to the frame, I'm wondering where you think the body can/will go?

BTW - I've been <IMG SRC="smilies/blender.gif" border="0"> too. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

If your body mounts are strong enough (ie 1/2 grade 8 bolts) why worry? I busted my body up pretty good in my last flop. The floors were loose from the firewall which resulted in nothing but a bunch of rattling and moving. It stayed where it was otherwise thanks to the body mounts, and the frame mounted roll cage was fine.

Of course Toyaholic and I kept joking the body was gonna keep going straight on one of the turns on the way home, but everything was fine <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Nah, but seriously, if the body tore loose, and the cage didn't, it could be like a mix master in the cab. So if you put a couple xtra cross bars (heh,heh, baaarrrrs) like across the dash like some, then across the floor front/rear, and tied the seats in.....if the cab came loose then, at least you'd still have livable space. By the way, we're talking extreme carnage here, not a flop.

I plan on tieing them into to the frame via bushings from the body to the frame...tie in mount style....

Ok so My question is.

When you tie in a cage. Do you weld it in? or Bolt it onto the frame?

welded to the frame in my case. mine made my jeep way more sturdy. i have way less flexing around even going down the highway. why would you want to be in a ball shaped roll cage in a major roll? staying with the vehicle is a much better idea, more protction than just a cab. i have never tested this, but when was the last time you saw a monster truck or nascar with roll cage bushings and tear away frames? <IMG SRC="smilies/laughing.gif" border="0">

They dont have tear away frames, but the seat, and harness are attached to the cage, as well as sitting in a full cage cockpit. BTW ever watch formula 1? <IMG SRC="smilies/wink.gif" border="0">

I have completely sub-framed my tub and have cage tie in places for when I build the cage. The seats will be incorporated into the cage. Then the subframe is where it ties to the frame with 9/16 grade 8 bolts. If the tub tears loose from the frame I will still be in a cage.

Just the way I did it!
