I want a small dump trailer but I dont have 5g to spend.
I have found a dump bed w/ram off a small 1ton dump which I can get for $500. What I am thinking is I can make a trailer frame mount the dump bed and ram then french the tires into the bed (to keep cg lower) the bed is a 5X10 . I know it would be heavy but would it work or is it a waste of time

It should work but I wouldn't bother cutting the wheels into the dump box, it'll just make a place for dirt to get stuck when your dumping and make the load want to hang up. If the box is only 5 feet wide you've got plenty of room to put the tires on the sides next to the box and still have a low COG.

I would think you could outboard the tires as already mentioned if the bed is only 5' wide, but I have never seen a dump bed that narrow. I would also use a pintle hitch in case the tongue weight unloads when you are dumping it.

:laughing: I was at the dump over Thanksgiving, and some guys (that didn't look much smarter than the dirt and rock they were dumping), backed up with a dump trailer. They spent 30 minutes trying to figure out why it wouldn't run, while I pointed out to dad the battery cable hanging down from the frame. One guy held it to it's point while the other guy ran the controls. The bed tilted back, it came unhitched, and ripped the tailgate off the truck, while sticking the tongue 8' in the air. :laughing::laughing::laughing:

So...they start unloading the trailer by hand...without moving the truck. :shaking: The trailer comes slamming back down and smashes the center of the bed in.:lmao::lmao:
