I just picked up a 10/22 and now feel the need to buy a shitload of ammo:p Anyone willing to recommend a decent (read cheap) reliable ammo for plinking?

My 10/22 eats any of the cheap bulk packs just fine.

Federal, Remington, CCI, Winchester it matters not.

Wally world bulk pack, 550 rounds for $13.

Story that made me chuckle, couple weeks ago the wife was talking about stopping by wallyworld for some stuff and asked me if I was going to get more ammo when I was there. I said sure, got to be stocked up for zombies, to which she laughed.

Fast forward to the trip there, I'm loading 9mm and .45 in the cart and she asks "gonna get any more for my pistol?". I said no, we already have a couple thousand for yours. Her reply was "what about the zombies?". Picked her up another bulk pack and was still chuckling when I got to the register.

I think my ruger 22/45 has digested over 8,000 rounds of Federal ammo, about 3,000 of which has been wally world bulk pack. Any .22 that won't shoot this stuff isn't worth keeping around for plinking.

American Eagle in the red box always runs good through all my 22s (10/22, 22/45, P22, etc.) but has been going up in price. Now runs about $25 for a brick of 500. At that price I've been starting to buy CCI MiniMags. They cost closer to $40 for 500, but they're cleaner, better accuracy, and 100% reliable.

For 4 times the price is better stroke ya off while you are driving to the range.

I have had the the exact 180 with the cci.. It seems dirty and lots of duds.. Does not cycle nearly as well either and to top it of cost way more.. I can get the federal for $13.47 per 525 at wally world and the cci stuff was way more

Yeah, stay away from the remington thunderduds. I can even get the to feed and shoot well out of my lever action.

They do live up to their name, I usually get 3-5 duds per box.

My 10/22 chews up just about anything I put in it. I'd just buy the cheapest.

Though these days I go through a lot more subsonic than anything else.

are there any favorites for sub sonic rounds?

Does wally carry?

Wally world carries remington subsonics, while they are pretty quiet through a can, they are the most unreliable POS ammo I've ever spent money on.

I always tell this to my SO when I go out an buy an a$$load of ammo or a new gun.:D

And I always buy the cheapest brick of .22 ammo I can find. That's usually Federal from good ole Wally World.
