: Dual Beadlocks!!!!
tvguy 08-20-2002, 01:45 PM I finally got a chance to get up to Memphis this weekend and see the dual beadlocks that Dan Dibble is going to put on his 4 seater chassis . . . pretty cool, huh? I thought some of you might enjoy seeing them as well . . .

RockRover 08-20-2002, 01:55 PM Okay...I'll bite...How much? Are we looking at 16.5's? They look like 15's though...
--D
elf_cruiser 08-20-2002, 01:58 PM yeah, how much?? And I am assuming that this company will do single beadlocks for rockwells, too. I don't need 64 bolts per tire, personally.
willymutt 08-20-2002, 02:02 PM Not quite as cool as the one off's that Boyd's made for Jason Paule. The only problem is that they can't use them until next year with the 39's.
Erin
RKCRAWLER 08-20-2002, 02:09 PM They look great sittin on the floor of your gayrage. But would look 10 times better mounted on your chassis!!!!! Can you hear me frankie????:D :D :flipoff2:
32 bolts per side * 2 sides = 64 bolts per wheel
64 bolts per wheel * 5 wheels = 320 bolts
And lets' not forget that the recommended tightening method is to torque the bolts in how many steps?! 3, 4, or even 5
Even at 3 times around the pattern, you're looking at 960 clicks of the torque wrench.
No thank you very much. Just because something can be made in a certain way doesn't mean it should be.
To the Bubba' that fabbed these, I commend your work, but damn you are a massochist !
IMO, go with a thicker ring (a' la Trailready) and use fewer bolts. If you could get it down to 12 bolts per side ... countersunk, with a good thick ring (aluminum to save weight), then I think you'd have something.
This Dan dude needs to get with Trailready and merge designs. Then I think you'd have something sweet.

RKCRAWLER 08-20-2002, 02:10 PM By the way ---- the writing on the tire in pic#1&3 is true!!!!!:D
elf_cruiser 08-20-2002, 02:18 PM hey daniel, those wheels look familiar...
now when is he gonna open his mouth on this thread??
frankie fountain 08-20-2002, 05:26 PM for quotes email me or pm i think there is a rule about pricing on this site the price is better than you think.;)
toyzilla 08-20-2002, 05:37 PM The rule is that you cannot advertise your products, like starting the thread and advertising, but if someone asks for a price on something you should be able to tell them.

That may be. And if the dude is willing to get that in touch with his torque wrench, then I say, "more power to him."
Personally, I think something like what Daniel posted (8 bolts per side) would be a heckuva' lot more user friendly. Just add a thicker ring than a stock Hummer unit and you would have an awesome beadlock.

jeeper111 08-20-2002, 08:29 PM Hey I say the more bolts the better. 920 clicks is nothing with a case4 of beer and a couple of movies on in your living room. HAHAHAHA Thats how us bear 4x4 guys have had to do it for years because we only had apartments. Being in college sucks sometimes. And yes those wheels do remind me of something. :flipoff2:
Jason R 08-20-2002, 09:47 PM Damn...those are nice..but that IS alot of bolts. Hell I'd run em tho. He gonna sell em anytime soon.? :D

I can say I had help putting them together. I didnt realize how many bolts that was untill I had them all apart and saw the pile of hardware. This is one of those things (we did it cause we could, not that it adds to the performance)( looks cool) I have had trouble in the past with 18 bolt bead locks and would not own another set.
About selling them, I hope to some day install these on the chassie. But well money talks.
(FRANKIE EMPTY YOUR PM BOX) do you know how?

Too bad Daniel posted a pic of 8 bolt bias HMMWV rims with no beadlock.
The 8 bolts are to hold the two piece of the rim together. They have nothing to do with beadlocks.
So I not to sure what you mean by a thicker ring than a stock Hummer unit? What are you speaking of here?
Am I missing something here Daniel because of the new centres that are welded in?
Tim.

Frankie, it's in the PROFILE section, top-right of screen. Make sure you click on SNET MESSAGES and delete all of those. Otherwise it'll fill back up right quick.
Dan, you need to bring Frankies Reaper (Since yours will never be finished :p) back up here to memphis. I'll bring the digicam and a video camera and get some vid of you hitting the hole all the 44-shod rigs were hitting last time, or wherever we can squeeze that monstrisity. :D :D :D We need some video of you flogging that thing. Then they'll see why you need these wheels. ;)

Frankie sold his chassis monday. It was sold to a guy in Atlanta for somewhere around 25,000. He is buying new parts right now for a compition machine. That EROCC snake bit him bad. What ever, as long as my chassis is done first. This will help push mine out.

i wonder if hardware is included in the price?
bigdude 08-21-2002, 05:00 AM You guys do realize that there are ways to get torque settings on impacts. Saves a lot of time.
1TONTJ 08-21-2002, 05:19 AM High end electric drill works well for this too. Did my 36 bolt MRT's that way. No problems, and WAY faster.

I'm kinda glad to hear that. I want to see what he builds now.
Frankie - still thinking rockwell, or are you going to build something with narrower axles and a lil' shorter wheelbase on something that has to squeeze through cones? Basically, what do you want to do different?
You don't strike me as the flyweight sammy-buggy type. Am I wrong?
What ever, as long as my chassis is done first. This will help push mine out.

Selfish bastid. :flipoff2:
It would be neat having yours done. I wanna see the looks on everyone's faces when you pull into Hooters with that on the trailer. :D :D :D

If they are the rubber inserts like this:
http://www.gohumvee.com/images/misc/beadlock/mid/4.jpg
Yes they work very well.
If you have them, then I will start forwarding customers to you, as I get people emailing me all the time looking for them.
Tim.

AxlesUp 08-21-2002, 08:09 PM ok how much for a 15x8 5 lug (70 bronco) with 3.5" back spacing..
if theres no reason not too i would like a single beadlock on the backside of the rim so it looks legal instead of on the outside where any DOT officer would notice it on casual inspection...
peace

Jw the inner bead is not the critical ariea of the forces that push the wheel and tire apart if you are going to run 1 lock it needs to be on the outside 15x8 5lug $150.00
