a couple guys on the classicbroncos BB were asking me to take some pics of my hydro-assist steering on my EB. I figured i'd post them here for you guys to see also. I took a bunch of pics but the lighting was bad and my hands were shakey...these are the only ones that came out half-decent. The ram...

do you not worry about damage to the ram with it mounted that low?

I've got histeering on my D60 and teh only place for the ram is below the tie rod like that for me. So far I've had no trouble with it. I think I've even banged it a couple of times but those things are tough. I also carry caps for the ports on the steering box and the ram so if damage does occur then I just go back to regular steering.

i run full hydro on my jeep and i run the tie rod in the stock location. all i did was build a bracket above the axle tube and then the ram ties into the top of the tie rod. if you have any problems mangleing your ram you might give it a try. you might not have any problems though because i have seen others with them mounted low. they just seem like rock magnets to me. time will tell i guess.

Here's a pic of the hydro assist on my Exploder.

The gear box is from West Texas Offroad. The ram is a Howe. Installation by FST (http://www.flynhi.com/fst.htm)

with the ram setups, do you still need a steering stabilizer?

No more stabilizer necessary with the rams. The tires can shake like hell and hit rocks whatever, the steering wheel is smooth as can be! :D

Mine just hadn't been removed yet when the photo was taken.

What steering box is used and what kind of mods were needed?

TIA

Stock steering box needs to have two ports drilled and threaded. Hydraulic hoses run to the ram and that's it.
