Will the Rear Disk Brake parts on a Rubicon (03-06) work with a Dana 44 out of a 89 Cherokee?

I know the Grand Cherokee mounting holes have to be modified to work and I dont want to fork up the Dough for a Terra disk brake kit. But I would like to be able to bolt on a Caliper mount if at all possible.

89 D44 Cherokee Rear-end Spec: 2 1/32 by 3 13/32 Rectangular stud pattern for backing plate mount. Is that the same as the Rubicon?

I don't know if I'm helping or wasting your time. I have a 99 TJ with the non-rubicon TJ 44 rear axle.

I put disc brakes from a 94 Grand Cherokee on mine for less than $200.

I roughly measured my bolt pattern. It's a rectangle that's about 1.5 x 3.5 inches. Those are very quick, rough measurements center to center.

I would think your 44 should be similar to mine before it would be similar to the newer style Rubi 44's. Am I way off there?

I changed the brakes on my 2000 TJ to disks. My buddy grabbed a junk yard D44 from a XJ and it didn't have brakes so I gave my old drums to him. When we went to put them on we found that the bolt pattern on the mounting pates was different. We had to modify the backing plates (drill new holes) from my old brakes to get them on the XJ axle.

Not even on Rubi TJ's! Every parts counter monkey (at least in my hood) gives me the wrong freakin pads every time! Even when I make them look me in the eye and I tell them these are for a RUBI D44. I went rounds with this know-it-all-bitch at NAPA who kept telling me she gave me the right part.:shaking:I finally just started to go to the dealer to get pads, and I get the right pads on the first try.
