im lookin for somethin very aggressive to put on my beater cherokee basically a mini tractor tire and i saw in a magazine people using skidsteer tires?

How big you looking for? Firestone makes a 31x15.50x15 v tread that work pretty good. There's a set of six on racingjunk.com for $650 for all, listed under listed bar treads. 11.2-16 (35.5x11.8-16) Goodyear Dynatorque 2's for a mid size tire, then you have 18.4 x 16.1 that are a 44.8x20.1-16.1, and they'll sometimes work on 16 inch rims. Ive seen it done by results may vary. Hope this helps

good luck finding 11.2/16 dyna torque tires. They are discontinued and getting hard to get. I got lucky and found some local, and they are well worth the effort to track down. They have about 1 1/2 inches of tread depth!!! :eek:

as for skidsteer tires,they are to hard, and stiff not good for anything but blacktop, in soft ground they will not clean theirself as well as a tractor tire does. and if you run a lot of rocks, neither tire is worth much.

I'll tell you what pissed me off to no end; well all know ag tires rule in the muck but I was pretty pissed to find out my buddies 46" firestone ags had a much smoother ride on-road ride than my 44" boggers :homer:

edit: It actually made sense since the ags have an overlapping center tread section, where the boggers did not; but I still thought it was freaking ridiculous. My DOT tires beat the shit out of me and the off-road only tires were as smooth as glass :shaking:

My buddy runs 12-16.5 skidsteer tires on his CJ5. They work great and can be found all over ebay. Measure about 33x12.50...

If you are looking for loader type (skidsteer) tires, you need to search for R4 tires. Google it. It is an industrial/agricultural designation for tread pattern regardless of height and width because in ag there are so few tread patterns used they can classify them all with R-codes. There are 5 of them. Ex. R1's are regular v-tread tires with standard height lugs (avg 45 deg bar tread tractor tire), R1W's are the wet version R1's (same tread as R1, but taller deeper lugs) R2's are the rice n' canes that all the mudders want (same tread as R1W, but even taller deeper lugs) R3's are turf tires (similar to a lawnmower tire), and the R4's are the industrial type tires (similar tread to skidsteer/loader) Got it fool!:mr-t:

I've got a set of 12.4-16 "dyna torque?" measures a true 37" I had to have mine shipped from wisconsin or somewhere up north. They were ~$800 a piece new around here.

jlg lift tirees can be had here for cheap. they are like 31/12.50/15 and they want $30 used for a tire with half tread...cheap beater

ask him how well those tires work when he airs down, unless he's running beadlocks, you can't air down those tires, they just pop right off.

Folks aren't running these tires for rock crawling, they are running them for mud. I know the air down/bead lock craze has become widespread; but its just not necessary for these tires/application. Just thought it was worth mentioning.

No more than about 50mph. And that was on unbalanced beadlocks. Versus my Boggers on balanced steel rims.

Really, if you know anything about tread design and road handling, it wasn't really that much of a surprise. Like I said, the V tread design with the overlapping center tread that always has contact with the road trumps the Bogger design. I just thought it funny and ridiculous that his off road only tires were SO much smoother than my dot tires...
