a few days ago i changed out my fuel filter. now my truck cuts out horribly at high rpms or around 40 mph. i put a new one in yesterday and it fixed the problem for a few hours then it started to cut out again. the problems intermittent. so changed the cap rotor wires and coil (teacher said that could be it) and still no luck. any kind of help to point me in the right direction would be great.

x3, or debris in carb. or bad fuel cap,
creating vacuum in tank.
( chased that for a while on my 78 1 ton )

yes congradulations, by removing your carb filter you have skipped ahead to full carb tear down to pick all the garbage out of the carb ports.

Had this problem twice, once with a 350 and in my 454. I actually had a little bit of a kinked fuel line right at the carb inlet. I know this should be obvious but I didn't notice it right away. I just cut out the kinked section and replace with hose and clamps. Just something to look at.

He didn't say how long it took him to change the filter......it may have been months/years...just that he finished it days ago....:D
My guess....lots O'water in the fuel tank? I'd consider dropping the tank and drain it out.

My 77 would clog a fuel filter in a matter of minutes due to rust in the tank. I am going to poly tanks when I finish rebuilding it. Might be that
