: Jeep trailer axles

Has anyone had any experience with Torsion flex axles for off-road trailers? I am planning on building 3 or 4 trailers this winter and can't decide between solid axles with leaf springs or the torsion axles. I searched but found nothing converning the pro's and con's of the two. Thanks gang!

Well,

Pro - no axle to hang up on things, you can build the frame to come down to the torsion stub and keep the center clear.

(I assume that would work)

Check out the Kimberly Kampers offroad camper trailers (www.kimberlykampers.com). They actually use a trailing arm/stub axle arangement similar to a torsion bar. I've seen someone else take a M415 and cut the axle and weld square channel in place of it in an inverted "U" shape. Kinda like this:
