You start a small project and it kinda snowballs.... I took the Zuk into the shop on Monday to fab some new shackle hangers. One thing led to another and the next thing I knew the Zuk was looking good again.....

The back end was looking a little worse for the wear ever since I took out the tailgate on Asylum. Since I gotta drive this beast for another year or so I figured a few changes were in order. I know I need a traction bar so the fuel tank has to move. Since I gotta repair the shackle hangers I thought I'd also experiment with the rear spring placement and with the fuel tank out of the way inboarding them looks easy. I have been a card carrying member of the darkside since last year ;)

Like TIm said it was just a matter of time before you came over to the DARK SIDE. All sheat metal is good for is leaving your paint on the rocks.

We'll be heading down either thanksgiving of christmas to wheel with you and eric.

Practice for the real thing. I'll do some tube in back, mount a couple ammo boxes and make a place for my cooler. If I feel ambitious I might even have some side panels made to help keep the mud out :D

Hey Chris, what's the chances of a Thanksgiving AZ inventational?.... ;) If there's some fearless leaders willing to spend the weekend wheelin', I might find some crazy Okies ready for a road trip (maybe a smokie TN as well?)...

Excellent work young Jedi.:D

Okcrawler, We can probably whip something up for Thanksgiving. Maybe introduce you to Florence Junction. Same kinda setup. Good camping and lots of tough trails to hit all in one area.

Tack welded some new spring hangers. I spent a chunk of today and yesterday grinding off stuff I don't need.

Sorry, I'm EFI! :D But, vegie beef stew on the intake manifold works just fine too. That's what I did last time, 'cause there's no burger joints anywhere near the AZ trials.. ;)

As far as cokkin' a turkey on the trail, someone from out here *cough*Tim?*cough* needs to show you how to FRY a turkey. Damn good, and you can do it in about half an hour. Big ol' vat, a couple gallons of oil, and a propane burner, and you're ready to go. You'll just have to invite someone with a Yota, since all that crap wouldn't leave any room in the back of a Sammy for the cooler. :D

It's the angle of the picture, the frame shoots up right after the stock hanger location so you need some sort of extension to get the the new one close to the stock location (if you are extending you WB with the same springs). The spring eye is within 1/8" of my previous one, which was a little lower than stock thanks to my YJ spring hanger.

Erik and I found a great steak joint last time we were out there (Table Mesa), it's about 10 minutes from camp, including the dirt road in. Florence has a really good pizza place.
