I like to run a good oil filter so I have been using the Mobil 1 oil filters for years. For the past year the M1-203 for the 258 has not been on the selves of the auto parts stores. I could order it from Advanced Auto but found the solution surfing the net. So now I can use the same oil filter on my 258 as I do on the 4.0 in the XJ. One filter for both motors, that will be easy to remember and get.
So I went to the Jeep dealer an ordered the part #53007563 for only a little over five bucks and it was in the next day.

Here is the new oil filter adaptor and the Mobil 1 oil filter M1-204 that the 4.0 motor uses.

I used a 7/8 six point socket to remove the 258 oil filter adaptor. BE CAREFUL NOT TO LOOSE THE OIL BY PASS VALVE AND THE SPRING.

I used some petroleum jelly to hold the valve on the end of the spring.

4.0 oil filter adaptor with the oil by pass valve installed in the 258 block and tightened with an inch socket.

All finished up with an off the self 4.0 oil filter, so I can change the oil when I want to instead of the next day waiting on the 258 filter to come in. Make sure to oil the gasket on the new filter before installation.
I did not check on other brands of filters for the 258 because I don't use other brands. As with everything else DO AT YOUR OWN RISK
