: L.A. to Charlotte - URGENT
TheTraveler 01-22-2009, 07:04 AM crew cab pickup, short bed, non-op, not-lifted, roller.
pickup location: residence
dropoff location: storage facility
dimensions approximately 17'Lx6.5'Wx5.5'H
Vehicle pickup in Fullerton, CA must be Friday Jan 21, '09 or Saturday Jan 22, '09. Yes, that's tomorrow or the next day. Pretty flexible on the arrival date in Charlotte, but it would need to be agreed to before you pick up.
If you have room for a second vehicle, there's a non-lifted IH Scout in Paso Robles, CA that needs to go to Charlotte too. But this is less pressing and can be worked out later.

Did you get the CREW CAB transported  Are you about ready to have the SCOUT transported to Charlotte  I have a package heading east to TX and a couple of other people who have needs between CA and NC, so I might have a good solution for you if you are ready.
EDIT : :emb2: feelin' kinda shtoopid 'bout now. just realized I posted this info in another thread directed at you. :shaking:
TheTraveler 01-28-2009, 06:56 AM transport was delayed, but is SUPPOSEDLY figured out. supposed to pick up next week, but nothing has been confirmed. if i don't hear good news soon, i'll drop a line.
thanks man!
TheTraveler 02-05-2009, 08:11 PM Transporter is a crook!!! Took my deposit, but thankfully I got the other check canceled in time. I'll get after him in due time. :mad3:
Oh, the crooked guy's info:
Mike Bills, Turlock, CA
Right now, I've got a truck that's going to get scrapped.
Still need the Scout to go to NC, but don't know if the seller of the crew cab will deal with me after all the hoopla. If I don't get the truck from the seller tomorrow, he's going to scrap it since the city is after him.
Anyone in the L.A. area able to save it for me? It must be picked up tomorrow. Temp storage at your place, bring it to me in Pismo, whatever. Just let me know.
Scout's ready to go, when the time comes.
Seems there's another guy posting here on Pirate who wants his truck taken from NC to SoCal, so there'd be an opportunity for the transporter to line up stuff on the return trip too. I've had a lot of time and money wasted on this venture, so I hope someone comes up with a reasonable transport plan.
Trulyvintage 02-05-2009, 10:43 PM Never pay a deposit - especially by credit card
No offense - but what you were looking for was a 'pizza delivery'
You cannot expect transport with just a few days notice
Pay for your transport in full at the time of delivery :)
TheTraveler 02-06-2009, 02:59 AM You may be right, thanks. But I've had vehicles transported before-- EVERY transporter I've talked to has required deposit of some sort, with balance to be paid at any time before delivery.
None of that matters right now, he's done all the damage he can do to me. Right now I'm just trying to get the truck saved.
TheTraveler 02-06-2009, 09:51 AM ok, crisis (mildly) averted. pickup to be towed and stored at a local tow yard.
Now back to the original question:
Anyone want to transport it (from Fullerton) and the Scout (from Paso Robles) to the suburbs of Charlotte, NC?
Looks like there's another guy posting on Pirate who needs NC-SoCal to hook you up on return trip too.

I always take 50% upfront, but that is because I am afraid of someone screwing me and not paying and the 50% would cover my cost and all I would lose is my time.
There are ways to protect yourself if you are dealing with a commercial driver, you need to get their DOT number and with that you can follow up any complaint and get to the bottom of it, me on the other hand cannot do anything with you as a customer except a law suit that could go for years and not get anywhere.
Now if you just happened to deal with a crook who isn't a commercial driver and /or you didn't know how to deal with them then I am sorry but you probably learned a very valuable and expensive lesson.
Good luck with this transport, you should be able to do it now that it's not a rush.
