Hmmm...before you get bashed, you might want to ask that elsewhere, everyone here builds real big heavy cages, nuthin "sporty" about them, try an M.O.R.E. bolt in if that's the route you want to go.

of the results I got from a simple "search". :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

and don't forget the obligatory "Look-here-NEWBIE-link":

All that from a Newbie that's been around longer than I have.

I know a good board when I see it...

& actually spend more time READING this one than posting on it.

I am, after all, just a FAWKIN" NEWBIE!!
:flipoff2:
:D

The question is:
Why the HELL did I feel the need to help that cat out & search for him???

...just a big geek i guess.

I've got the same problem on my good days, I just can't be as harsh as most of these guys are. I love reading up on this board but I can't keep my big mouth shut, hence the four hundy and some posts in the last three months. I wasn't bashing you by the way, are you the same Kilby that makes all the OBA stuff? I've spent a lot of time on that site but haven't bought anything yet, too busy keeping my junk running and wheelin' the tar out of it to finish my OBA setup, but this winter she's gettin' tore up from the floor up.

Maybe I could get a "family discount"??:D

I agree with the quote.

Here are some "sporty cages" for people that think they have a sports car.:flipoff:

I can't bash either...

I would try a local place to build a non sporty cage.
Will you trust your life, life of your wife or kids to a "sport cage"?

I put on the OR fab kit with floor mount on my TJ. It seams really solid. Never rolled the TJ to find out though. I've got a friend with a bender, I might weld in the OR fab cage and make a few additions to it latter. Its a clean install, sturdy enough for what I do. Chances are, when I roll, it will just be on its side or maybe once over. I really don't need a cage that will take 5+ rolls @80MPH.

Now this guy can build you a "sport" cage

He's pretty reasonable in price, I hear there's a group buy going over on JU

Holy SHIT!

It's...

It's...

GAWD AWFUL UGLY
:barf:

But!
Would it work?

4Bangler

Maybe, if it were rolled onto the all too common on the trail big pile of mattresses and fluffy pillows, and if none of the questionable welds failed causing the square tubing to impale the driver.

Kilby

That is some of the ugliest welding I've ever seen...

They're selling that shit?!

I was just thinking that maybe for a backyard fabber who didn't wanna spend any actual $$ (or time, by the looks of it) it might be good enough.

I think I'd buy a damn cage if that's the best I could do.

I don't think price is a very good criteria for buying safety protection.

Better questions are what type tubing, what wall thickness, fabricators welding skill & knowledge. Is the cage connected to the frame just not the body, etc.

You need to do a search on this board and look at issues of HREW, DOM, Chrome moly, mig, tig, etc and then make your decision.

If you sell to the public, all roll cages/bars are "sport" cages/bars because otherwise it opens you up to liability with the implication that your product will save your a$$ when you roll it. &%$#ing lawyers.

Not true.

I didn't realize what a sport cage was until I reclined back in the drivers seat of teh GF's Jeep. She said it was a sport cage (from the dealer that way) You guys realize the main hoop is 3 pieces? she wants to finish her cage, I'm torn between welding the 3 pieces together and gutting it and starting new.

The cages I see advertised as cages are 100% weld together. Cept for maybe where it bolts to the floor. Sport cages seem to all be bolt togethers.
