Is it just me, or is there a huge need for a 14 bolt Ox Locker, or ARB. I personally dont wanna give up my bigger axle for a D60, just to be able to disengage the locker. Should we start lobbying for it??

Would be nice but when you can buy a detroit for $320ish.....I just don't see them spending the R&D into making one to compete with the detroit......:D :D

IF you got connections.........hook us up...

The 14 bolt detroit is a selectable locker, it just takes an hour and a couple quarts of gear lube to select it. I'm more excited about the full spool possibility for the 14 bolt, locked all the time, what else do you need?

I agree we do need one. Options are not bad.

I originally heard the E locker was coming out in a 14bolt version first, didn't happen.

But, the more people who write the companies, the quicker they will make something. ARB has told me and others 2003, but who the fawk knows.

I have to admit I'm more interested in the Spool myself (other than welding up the spyders).

I want a selectable locker so I can make full use of my twinstick 205 with the addition of cutting brakes.

Right now we were working on a slectable locker for the 14 bolt.
This locker is vacuum operated and reliable.
Hope the locker is ready to sell within 6-8 weeks.
Please let me know if you are interested.

What price range? Simular to the Rockwell unit listed on the General page?

I am not sure how much it will be. At first we have to finish, and than we have to calculate . I think it must be in the price range of a D 60 locker. It also depend on how much we can sell.
We will keep you informed.

I dunno why,
but I am so leary of vacuum operated stuff
why doesnt anyone use a hydraulic setup like a clutch master and slave?

Hydraulic would be a step back. We did that 10 years ago. Now we find vacuum is less trouble and easier to install. Your Motor is your vacuum source. Itīs easy to fix a leaking vacuum hose with a simple tape.

Will the locker be a drop in like the detroit? Or will it replace the factory carrier? I don't want to reset the gears if I don't have to.

Just a little peice of info, you have to reset the gears with a Detroit too. I installed my Detroit myself and it wasnt too hard, I just had to reset bearing preload and backlash

any word if Eaton will be making the E-Locker for the FF 14 bolt. They have it for the 12 bolt and in production and will have D44 and D60 sometime this year.

If you don't want to give up your axle for a D60, you must have a FF 14bolt.
From what I have seen of them (I don't have one... yet) it's very difficult to make a selectable locker for it because of the carrier design- that is why the detroit is so cheap, you don't replace the carrier.

Now the SF 14bolt should just be replaced as soon as a FF14bolt is found. (My buddy trashed his just on trail rides and mud with a stock 350.)

BTW- a D60 is not much smaller than what ya got.

Reviving this old relic! I have been wondering about this topic for some time. Any new information about a selectable locker for the FF 14 Bolt? I know ARB makes an air locker, but is this our only option? Any possibility of an E-locker in the future?

the only thing i can think that he wanted a selectable 14 bolt diff for was if he was running one of those fancy 14 bolt front steering axles.
if not, a detroit for a 14 bolt is really the best there is, mine works great

Its the newbish thing to do...dig up a thread that is 10 years old and add your 2 cents:shaking:

I wasn't adding my 2 cents. I did a bunch of searching on this site to see what I could find about the subject. Why??? Because if you don't then you get flamed because somone assumes that you didn't search or they happen to know a couple of good keywords to use so that they find the information and then chastise the person for not finding what they found! So...I aptly said that I was reviving and old relic. This I thought would definitely prove that I did some searching. However, now I find out that is doesn't really matter if you search or not because someone will be on the other end with their dumb comments that add nothing to the discussion; they are just bored or have nothing better to do, or they will sound more knowledgeable than they really are by putting someone else down without actually adding any useful information.

Now to the fact that I am a Newb or whatever. I have been lurking on this site for a long time and I don't post a lot. Why...because I don't feel the need to Post-whore or add to my post count or randomly comment on everything! If I have some good information I'll add it. I also realize that there is a sense of community with guys on here that have been here for a long time and have made and met friends on here and that is Great! A bunch of local Chevy guys and I started a new forum recently though connections we made off of another one.

I spend most of my time outside and actually working on stuff so I don't spend a lot of it in here with all of the other projects I have going on. One thing I feel is that all of the bickering and flaming and bashing of new guys is pointless! Take the new guys under your wing, if you don't know them be professional about your interactions until such time that you become friends and know each other's personalities, help them out where you can, teach them something where you can and if they find the opportunity they will return the favor.

Finally...I'm not gonna go cry in the corner and I will walk away from this computer screen after this and be just fine. I ask about a selectable locker because I am not an extreme off-roader and I drive my truck sun, rain, snow or ice. I don't have enough personal experience with lockers in the ice and nobody seems to be in agreement about it...Flame On! :flipoff2:

Non-selectable lockers suck ass when it's icy. So, yeah, you want a selectable. So, what's wrong with the ARB? It exists for the 14bff and it works. 'Nuff said.
