I am looking to put a newer injected engine in my rig. I have a good turbo 400 and a Stak that I don't want to part with. I know it has been done several times in the past. I am having trouble finding information on mating the two. Anybody have any experience with this, or can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks

The trans will bolt to the engine, all except for one bolt on the right side. The middle bolt hole is not drilled or tapped on the LS engine (unless you run a GMPP LSX or aftermarket block). Everyone just leaves this bolt out.

The rear crankshaft snout where the flywheel bolts is 400 thousands short compared to a standard small or big block engine. There are spacers available that can be used to move the flywheel back, or you can use a flexplate from TCI Automotive. It has pads welded on where the converter mounts, and includes a collar that fits into the pilot in the crank. This is the way we do most of our LS based swaps.

This has been covered here to death! The Newbie basically summed it up! But the spacers are the cheapest route!!!

Thanks for those links. The 1999-2000 6.0L had a crank with a 0.400" longer flange. I always thought the spacer went behind the flywheel. So waddaya know.

Some of the early 4.8L's had the wide flange crank as well with the NV3500 trans.
