i just got a 1985 K5 blazer, it has a welded rear axle. so i got a 14 bolt 6 lug out of the junk yard, planning on putting it under the k5, well i got one year too late i think. i got a 1988 axle and it wont fit my 85.. the spring saddles on mine look like theyre 45" apart and the 14 bolt saddles are 50" apart, is my measuring that off or will it really not fit? i really need some help.

cut move weld.
you also got it from a different body style truck, the 88+ trucks are completely differnt setups.

It's a great axle for non hardcore working out ,just put on the new spring pads and run it ,but if it has a gov-loc diff ,change it out for a Detroit asap or you'll be back to square one,but with a more expensive rebuild.

Yup, lesson I learned. 14 bolt 6 lug = semi floater, 14 bolt 8 lug full floater. All the research I did was for a FF so when I bought a SF I was really like duh because it was a different animal. Just make sure you aren't pulling a, well, um me. :D
