I am looking to scrounge up a ps, a oil, and a trans cooler at the boneyard. Most of the Fords use the stacked plate style similar to what B&M markets and they sure look to be the sturdiest.
I have heard though that if contaminated with dirty fluid that they can't be properly cleaned.
Anyone know anything about this rumor?
How are you fellow scroungers flushing them out?
I'm thinking of using a small tranny cooler from an explorer for the ps, and big tranny cooler from a full size van or pickup for the trans and possibly oil cooler.
I have also seen older Jags that have an impressive looking oil cooler

Yes, they are difficult to clean if not darn near impossible. I just replaced my stacked cooler (was not cutt'n it) with a JY tubular 8 pass. I flushed it clean with brake cleaner and compressed air (makes a fawk'n mess). I have a spin on cooler so little to no crap ever went through the cooler.
