: 7 leaf waggy question???

I got on J.C. Whitney's website to order the 7 leaf heavy duty waggy springs. I was under the impression that these were for a Grand Wagoneer??? If you click on the Grand Wagoneer under the jeep section, it does not come up with leaf springs, but if you click on just Wagoneer, then it comes up with several different leaf packs. Are the Wagoneer 7 pack heavy duties the ones I want to push my axles out 2" in both directions, or is there a way to find Grand Wagoneer leafs???????? Just want to clarify before I drop $400 on these. Thanks.

The ones you want on J.C.Whitney are the "regular" waggy springs. 7 leaf HD units. $99 each.

Trust me I just got mine from them a few days ago and slapped them in. They are the correct ones, 1" longer than YJ springs and a 1" offset center pin. :D

They come with bushings and sleeves in them already. There have been a few posts on them in the last few days... might want to check them out.

In 83 0r 84 they changed from being called "wagoneer" to the Grand Wagoneer (when the XJ came out.....it had wagoneer versions), but the FSJ Wagoneer is the same as a GW. In fact Rancho sells 44044s for Wags/GWs and J trucks.

About how much lift do these Waggy springs provide?

Stock waggy springs will give up to 1.5" of lift on a YJ and if you run the front springs on all four corners, you will gain about 4" of wheelbase, b/c they are a little longer, and the center pin is offset. Do a search and you'll find more than enough info on them.

I am completely familiar with the wheelbase lengthening thing. I just didn't recall how tall those springs are and asked because I happen to be in the planning stages of a SOA conversion and this is, afterall, a discussion about Waggy springs.

But thanks for reaming me a new asshole. I appreciate that. :flipoff2:

I just called JC whitney to find out the spring rate but they called the manufacturer and they never figured the spring rate out.

I asked them about the 5 leaf and the 7 leaf

the 5 leaf had a capacity of 960 lbs.

the 7 leaf had the capacity of 1335lbs.

they gave me 2 lengths 22.5" and 24.5" for both(they are the same lengths)

To find out the spring rate you need to know the thickenss of the leaves. Has anyone crunched the numbers

I know this is a little late in the game, but oh well.....

Instead of JC Whipme try espo.com. They have a no confusion listing for the wag springs (http://www.espo.com/wagoneer109.htm), and i beleive theirs come with rubber bushings... but they do have a poly part number listed also. I beleive they sell only the 7 leaf springs.

They seem to be a few bucks cheaper to boot.... Just remember they are priced per pair! And they are "matched springs".... don't know that it makes any difference, but shoot... marketing is marketing.

I think espo is willing to custom build, but it probably won't be cheap, and it may take a while for them to get them to you.

I thought J.C. Whitney springs were militray wrapped? Can anyone confirm this. Thanks. John

The JC 7 leafs are NOT mil wrapped. I don't know the #s but they are softer than the OME springs I was using. I haven't wheeled it yet, but have crossed it up w/ a fork lift. I've got them sprung over (CJ7) and w/ LOTS of fender trimming I'm clearing 38s w/ a little room to spare. It gets one wheel almost 4' up with the others still on the ground. I'm happy so far.

Its the CJ-7, 7 leaf rears that come military wrapped from Whitney.

blue92, your right about the mil wrap CJ rears. That is also what I have heard in the past, the CJ ones not the waggies. Thanks. John
