Thanks to Daniel and his faith in people, after two hours of cutting I'm the proud father of some wicked swampers.

Cut outside large lugs horizontally, cut the 2 medium sized outside lugs at different diagnals, left the small one alone...

In the center I did the triangular cuts every three tread blocks but merely cut the smallest one in half.

I cut all these at the same depth as the wear bars, why? They were quicker to cut, less chance of getting into the carcass, and by the time they get to the wear bars (only use them 1 or 2 weekends a month and will be trailered) I may be looking @ 38's or so...

Look much better, even pinched me when I sat down on them, much improved flex, and I couldn't scoot them across the floor any longer, had to pick them up to turn them for additional cutting.

All done, plus a pose with Daniel's AWESOME groover!

Only used up one blade and thats the one that came with it!! Trying different settings on an old tire and setting 4 was too much bending the blade, went back to setting 2 and used the same blade for 5 tires without any difference in speed even towards the end.

A fairly large pile of the left-overs...

Took three flat-shovel scoops to pick up this mess on the floor...

They are 36x12.50-15 Bias, only reason I didn't cut the smaller lugs is because the lugs aren't nearly as large on my little ones as yalls 38+ tires.

I'll get your groover all cleaned up and sent off to you for the next eager user.

Heat setting #2 and on the last tire I got done in about 20mins.

IMO it's pretty damned cool of Daniel to loan that out to people, and if anyone on here tries to fuck him on giving it back, a crew of people should show that person the error of their ways with steel toed boots. The tires look great, I'm jealous. I've been tossing around just saying "Screw it" and charging 36s, but I'm trying have some will-power (Yeah right)

Well, Welby, I got my 36's at a little above cost $140ish each, so I ordered 5, I'll mount them myself (fawk balance, I've got AT's for daily driving).

I paid $175 a tire for my 38s. maybe you should just say screw it and buy some 38s :D

you paid 175 bucks for 38's? 38.5 bias ply's? I sure hope not cause I just bought a set and wrote out a check for 1071.24!

No sir, two hours (give take 30mins to play with a scrap tire) to do them ALL, once you get into it, its suprisingly easy and fun, and when you get a pattern going and stuck in your head you can just wing it w/o drawing on the tire. Cut, pluck, cut, pluck, and so on, a spin or rotation on occassion.

The most worrysome cuts were the large outter lugs that I cut horizontally, I feared a slip of a cut and going into an outside sidewall cord.

I think mine took about that long using the ideal tire knife (search for that on the web if you want a $60 groover that's a little slower, but you won't have to mail back). It cuts at about half the speed of the $400 job, but I only cut half as much (no outer lugs).

Dude, you'll love it. I'm only sorry you didn't cut them after a couple runs to appreciate the difference more. Mine flex @ 10 PSI like they used to at 6 PSI. That's a pretty big difference, if you ask me. They just seem to hold better.

For those of you who didn't see it in the initial post of snake's, here's mine (It was #2 in his poll):

I think that is cool as hell for nim to loan that tire cutter out. Most folks don't trust like that anymore. http://community.the-underdogs.org/smiley/happy/thumb.gif
Well done Daniel. Snake, your tires look very cool. I thinkyou will be happy with the performance.

You should have left the outer edges alone, i will put $$$ that the outer lugs that have been cut will get all ripped off, ever see a bias siped all the out to the outer lugs? It tears em up very fast, but the inner treads look very nice.

Well, I guess you'll have that, glad I didn't cut too deep, oh well, if it doesn't work out right then I'll know for next time.

Sometimes just gotta live and learn.
