Please get a proper stand for those oxy/acet bottles. That is some scary shit right there. At least strap them to the wall or a bench or something. But that is asking for a disaster. :shaking:

thank you saftey officer. i already know that you cant tell by the pic but till i can make my next trip to my welding supply and buy a cart they are tucked into a corner and would be very hard to knock over. i also have been using extreme caution in knowing they aint attached to anything. go figure only in my build thread i post 20 pictures and the only comments are what isnt up to OSHA standards:shaking:

If you ever need any help I am right in newton. Always looking for more people to wrench and wheel with.

Dude everyone is just looking out for you, we don't need your dumbass comments. most of us have seen more stuff then you will ever see and/or learn. I personaly have seen the devastation an acetylene bottle can produse. If your going to be in this site grow up and respect what people with more experiance have to say, you don't have to listen but you don't need to act like a complete jackass either. that being said the jeep looks killer and i don't wana here about something like this happening to you and your pretty lady. Best of luck

Prepare to be amazed.
Read the whole damn thing, it's mind blowing.
Particularly the second page.

well said... but apparently sarcasm doesn't go well with some. i haven't personally seen what an acetylene bottle can do but the guy at the welding supply store did show me some pictures of what happens when you use oil to thread the regulators on and told me they scrapped the guy off the floor. i do know these are dangerous and like i said until i make a trip to my welding supply (which is actually tomorrow to refill the tanks) im using extreme caution until i pick up a cart for em. btw way im from jersey you dont like my attitude fuck you:flipoff2::laughing: j/p

edit: just got a cart 5 min ago for $40 off craigslist everybody cease and desist

mon i took out the trans because it wasn't shifting and got it to shift when it out out and i took the top cover off and made sure the plastic guides and forks were good. and got it to shift so i put it back in and now it wont shift :mad3: im thinking i have to much play in my shifter setup and am gonna have to ditch the chain idea because its not strong enough. well see if thats not the issue im tearing it out again and just dropping it off at a trans shop to look at. no forks look bent. everything is lined up and worked when it was out so im stumped.

today i got the rear axle 90% finished fab wise and installed my yukon locker today and got the gas tank 95% done including cover, finish welding, and paint. im hoping friday to post up some pics of everything completely finished. hopefully friday the rear axle will be buttoned up and ready to go in and the gas tank done. then its onto finishing my cross members and fixing my half assed front lower link mounts. after that it should be all mechanical work and really no more fabbing which is good because that stuff is getting old. im sick of 2 pounds of black snots every night in the shower.

Does it shift with the t-case unbolted?

I had the same problem as you, turns out my D300 clocking ring really should be about 1/8" longer... or my D300 input shaft about 1/8" shorter... the t-case input was pushing up against the trans output and preloaded everything on the mainshaft... so it won't shift.

the other good thing is that i know am allowed to dedicate paychecks to the jeep and live off the fiances cash for a bit to get this damn thing finished.

This^^^ sounds familiar  . And mine can't wait to do some snow wheeling, so we ate ramen noodles for a month to get it done

Maybe I missed it, but roughly how much money do you have tied up in it now?

well it was originally supposed to be "cheep" lol but if i wanted to finish it in the next decade i finally hd to break down and spend some cash.

as of right now i got

brakes - 750-1000 after everything will be said and done
front and rear antirocks - 750
tires and wheels - 1200
trans - 1000
t-case -750 - 1000ish
axles -2000 including locker drive flanges high steer etc etc etc...(but i got enough time invested in em i wouldnt let em go for less than 2500

plus the 1500 or so in brackets and steel that have been bought and add another 1000 of grinding discs paint and all the other little bullshit that you make 50 trips to the hardware store over. plus the welder and cutting torches add another $1500. lol the list goes on......

jeez after adding that up this thing is for sale:laughing:

updates got some more stuff done. had a buddy come help me and he got the driver seat mounted and the brackets for the passenger done just need to buy some longer bolts and they're done.

shifter v2.0 it shifts!:D not smoothly but i can jam that bitch in gear. i dont have my slave sylinder hooked up so i think once i do that plus driving it and letting the tranny warm up it will break in....

tied in my front diff cover track braket to the axle so it doesnt break the silione bead when the trackbar pushes against it. that was a bitch to figure out how to do but it all unbolts from the axle still via two bolts with the nuts welded on the back.

gas tank cover painted in screwed in place... in the pic its all un bolted im waiting til i get everything finished because i might be running my license plate wiring behind it.

today i started working on my rear t-case crossmember... cut out some 1/4" thats bolted up to the rear output and front ouput backing plate. gotta get some longer gr8 bolts first. notched my crossemember so it will give some more clearance for the poly bushing im using. i dont have pics but i also started my transmission crossmember.

and finally a "90% finished" pic of the rear. just gotta get a shim kit because as i was bolting it back together the pinion bearing support wouldnt fit in the housing to good and my pinion depth is now to deep and is riding on the support bearing.

thats all for now happy early thanksgiving fuckers:flipoff2:

i know it seems like a while been busy finishing up school holidays and thrashing on the jeep. front end is almost completely done. i finished adding supports to the coil buckets. brakes and axle shafts installed just have to align and tighten everything. got my h1's in welded the rim stiffeners on and painted them. also i finished rear crossmember and t-case support. also version 2.0 passenger side lower control arm. i also got my rear sway bar stuff in and also a picture of my self-made rear sway bar bushings.

your welding skills have improved, in some of your pics there are little pinholes in your welds though, thats caused by contamination, either paint or oil etc.. just fyi if ya didn't know. and I'm glad that chain shifter is gone.

i almost think this thread is a guy with a lot of time on his hands, alot of random parts, and really weird sense of humor. i mean seriously look at eh shifter. that reminds me of my push button spinning spare tire that i make because i was bored. if its for real i think it will be fine if he doesnt try to drive it down the road.

well it pains me to say this but i finally have to throw in the towel on this project. im getting married and just lost my job. i no longer can afford to throw money at it. im selling it for $7000 obo i know i have way more than that in parts alone. but it will be in roller condition all it needs is a couple brake lines bleeding brakes, driveshafts, and minor tweaks here and there. this is a 75% complete project i just cant afford any more. :shaking: feel free to pm me or call 862--432--3615. this price is cheaper than the KBB of a bone stock wrangler in my condition. i need this thing gone.

Sell just the antirock? Pm me a price if so. Sorry to hear about the project but I understand the issue with trying to deal with multiple ordeals.

no its a roller right now i have rear brake lines and driveshafts mount rear shocks and get the bitch running again. i just landed a job today and just have been afraid to spend money on it. i really hate thinking about selling it but at the time it was the realistic thing. for now i will hold onto it and when the smoke clears finish it up. i hve too much wrapped up into it that i would be better off tearing it all down and selling it piece by piece.

EDIT: and yes im sorry this thread is like a 14 year old girls journal... full of drama:flipoff2:

Just read your whole build.

Looks good man, glad to see your welding is getting much better and you have improved your design a lot from where you were originally heading. Its a learning experience.

I finished my first major build about 6 months ago and like you learned a lot through the process. Then I sold it :p

Anyway keep up the good work.

You should get the "helper" out in the garage with you more, congrats on the engagement.
