Why does a 99 Polaris Motor freeze???

I have countless of old Hondas, and new ones, that run without a hiccup. Put gas in and go.

Moral of the story? Buy a Honda or Yamaha 4 wheeler.

I get tired of hearing "Yea my Polaris rides so good, blah, blah blah" Yea, well the Jap wheeler dont lock up, blow trannies, grenade differentials, etc., etc.

Sorry i couldnt help.

Well I was always a honda man!!!!!! Had a 125m. Then Had all three years of the 250 Big Red and loved every one. But when I saw what a 500 sportsman could do too a 500 Honda with the same tires it is pathetic!!!! I am sorry but when there is that much difference in between two bikes with equal size motors and same exact tires it is awful for HONDA! The reason the Polaris is froze is because the idiot that was using the bike before I bought it from a buddy of mine drowned it out! Do you want to know why? I did not intend for this too be a who is better topic , but since you were so eager to jump the gun and slam a polaris I will tell you why! Because he went through a canal 5 times that ate up two of your precious HONDAS. It finally took in water after he flipped it and water went into the intake. He not knowing what too do let the bike sit there for 3 months and the rings stuck too the cylinder! NOW go sell the HONDA and get a four wheeler that can honestly say it is a 4x4 not that weak ass limited slip shit you like.

when unfreezing a motor i have found that pouring diesal fuel or kerosene in the cylinder helps. it doesn't hurt the motor (as long as you drain it :D )

and as far as setting the valves i don't know. might have to get a manuel. just hope it's not like a 250ex kawey ninja, thoses are tuff.

Settle down son.

I didnt say that Honda's are fast. Honda wont make a fast wheeler because they are so gun shy about the lawyers. Hondas are aimed at the people that use them for work, farms, etc. Do we remember the ATC250R and the TRX250R? Awesome machines, Honda can build a hell of a machine if they wanted to.

Honda has paid more in lawsuits then Polaris makes in a year. This is why they detune their wheelers. For example, they take a fairly slow 400 4 stroke motor (XR400) and stuff it into the 400EX. One would think they would hop up the motor for all of the unnecassary weight of a 4 wheeler. But instead they DEtune the motor.

Only a Polaris owner would leave a machine sit for 3 months with water sitting in the cylinder.

As for setting the valves, buy the Polaris shop manual, they sell plenty of them.
