We got Texas grouped in with Oklahoma now :D
I'll have to check my schedule and see if I can make it out there. What's the typical terrain/course layout for this obstacle course?
offroadman83 01-27-2009, 01:08 PM Alright..........a board for texan talk and.......we can allow the oklahomans in:flipoff2:

4544x4 01-27-2009, 07:38 PM What kind of race is this?Mud Dirt rock????:homer:
nckwnchstr 01-27-2009, 10:00 PM What kind of race is this?Mud Dirt rock????:homer:
without giving too much away, the course could loosely
be described as a "horseshoe" kinda sorta.....the start/finish lines will be very near one another...
the stock class will run the course one direction and
the modified will run it the opposite way
the course will incorporate narly rocks, hardpan dirt, deep ruts, trees,
steep grades, loose dirt, deep soft sand, high berms, multiple water crossings
and last but not least, mud.......
in order to prevent as much "pre-running" of the course as possible, the route
will not be unveiled 'till the morning of the race....
competitors will be encouraged to view the course after they sign-up and before
we have the driver's meet shortly before race time.....there will be a time limit for the sake of continuity BUT it will be enough to allow ample opportunity for each driver to complete the course within reason....the time limit will not be revealed until
the driver's meet....
Got this info out of the texas4x4.org website ...

4544x4 01-27-2009, 10:08 PM and would this be out west towards Amarillo?
nckwnchstr 01-27-2009, 10:11 PM from what i saw in there Yes, its somewhere around Amarillo ... they do mud bogs (drag and deep pit as well) looks like it could be a lot of fun ... too bad i wont be back in the states for it.
Bubba Ray Boudreaux 01-28-2009, 01:36 AM It's north of Amarillo on 287 at the Canadian River. The even itself I cannot speak much about since I'm not in the know and haven't been able to keep up with much of anything. The terrain is normal western Tejas stuff. Lots of red dirt, few rocks.
The mud drags I think are the day before. There's always lots and lots of people out there on this weekend.
I am supposed to be there for the Challenge since I'm one of the sponsors. At this point I don't know if I'm going to make it since my wife decided to drop a bomb on me a few weeks ago. If I'm not there physically, I will be there spiritually.
Copperhead Fab 01-29-2009, 09:06 AM let me know if you guys need any help or people there to help run the event. we are in lubbbock and have some rigs ready. let me know if you need sponsorships and such. please contact me at copperheadfab@gmail.com or call the shop 806/786/7786
:smokin:
HalfFastFord 01-29-2009, 08:24 PM looks like a road trip is in order.
WildWilly4x4 01-30-2009, 05:35 AM Its a badass time down there, plenty of mud/rocks/sand for everyone. @40 miles of river land to play on. Be prepared to buy an OHV permit though, they will be giving tickets, doesnt matter if your rig is street legal or not.
OKMudn 02-02-2009, 08:45 PM And dont forget if you take a bike or a quad you have to have a helmet on at all times as well as an OHV permit.
slobuild57 02-07-2009, 11:40 AM 15 day bump!
Hope to see ya'll there!
boger4d9 02-09-2009, 04:26 AM is there some place in amarillo that you can buy the ohv sticker?

Looks like you can get it online also.
apeters89 02-11-2009, 10:24 PM How long with this little event take? I just realized it's happening on SUNDAY, and it's a 4+ hour drive back to OKC with my trailer. :(
TerraScout 02-12-2009, 07:26 PM Hey, all sorry I am late to the board....
I am the guy organizing this event..we hope to have the comp done fairly quickly, maybe 3 to 4 hours? There is a limit of 2.5 hours from sign in to race
start, so the classes will not be too large..there is a time limit per rig as well
for the sake of continuity....ample time of, course, but no so much that we end up spending all afternoon trying to get a handfull of rigs thru...
the course is relatively short right around 1/4 mile start to finish..
it is designed to be challenging, yet very fast paced....
Please post any other questions you might have, and remember there are
3 classes as of a couple of weeks ago
STOCK, MODIFIED and OPEN
thanks, Greg

you'll have an e-mail inbound in a few minutes...
jayz8886 02-16-2009, 02:10 PM mailed you back
apeters89 02-16-2009, 03:14 PM mailed you back
we'll have to see. I'm not sure it's worth the money to get out there and back for the rig and me
I figure towing I could make it out there on a tank, and back on a tank, with 2 rigs on the trailer. I just don't want to deal with the trailer, etc. on Sunday night. I'll talk with HalfFastFord tonight and see what he wants to do too.
apeters89 02-17-2009, 02:41 PM looks like I'm going ot have to skip out on this one :(
Just not enough time to get everything ready.
Bubba Ray Boudreaux 02-22-2009, 08:56 PM 5 pics up in CC. Kick ass event and can't wait to see how it grows.:grinpimp:
