wymer 01-28-2009, 08:09 AM how any do you have on this ride?
what size rigs going?
I've have a jeep with 1 tons on 44"s
I have not been to RB in years might join up with you all
its only 1-1/2to 2 hours away for me
BSFOR 01-28-2009, 09:44 PM Right now I think there will be a fairly small group. Prob 5-8 vehicles. Most are running 39's or bigger on 1 tons or better. If you would like to meet up and go that would be great. I think we are meeting at the old perkins just off of the interstate at the top of caryville mt (oneida/huntsville exit.) Keep up with new info on the ride at http://www.bigsouthforkoffroad.com and go to the forum. If you need more info you can call me. I am listed on the contacts page(treye) at the site listed above.

So why are you going in from the top...aka the easy way? If you decide to go in from the bottom just past Shoney's so we can go up the rock climbs let me know. If it's not too cold I'll tag along. No heat in the rig. Yeah, I'm a big o'l wuss :flipoff2:
BSFOR 01-29-2009, 01:24 PM Unfortunately I am not the trail leader on this one but we are always up for new ways to go so if you wanna tag along I am sure we could follow you and maybe come out where we were planning on going in. We are open do any ideas. thanks

Don't get me wrong I've gone in from the top before also but if you go all the way through you end up coming down the better climbs. Again, if it's not too cold I'll be glad to come along.
To go in from the bottom you pass Shoney's (coming off the interstate) on hwy63 for a couple of miles. The trail turns off the road and crosses the creek. It's a pretty nice trail but it's kind of like School Bus in Tellico being a near constant climb. It comes out on top right above the old wheel house that was used when the mining was in operation. Pretty nice view also.
BSFOR 01-29-2009, 05:07 PM now that you describe it I have been that way. I agree with you and that is a better way to go. I think I may try to talk everyone into going in that way and then we can come out where are trailers are. If you go past the hotel just off the oneida exit about 1 or 2 miles then you can take a left and that is the same road you are speaking of. I think It would better to do our road driving first and go that way because there is no way most of our rigs would make it down the interstate.

Yep, hwy63 is just a few miles from the hotel. You can gas up at the Pilot before pulling out. I'd probably meet you at the creek crossing.
Once we come out, if some want to do something quite a bit harder we can run over and do the power line trail. It's pretty short but damn, it is rough. It's just a couple of miles away from the hotel also but on Perkins side of the interstate.
BSFOR 01-29-2009, 09:02 PM Hey man that sounds great. we are meeting at the old perkins at 11am so if you want to meet us at the creek crossing that would be fine. prob around 1130 or so. it will take us a min to get going but we are planning on wheels rolling at 11 am.
biggin 01-30-2009, 05:19 AM Im in for sure.
wymer 01-30-2009, 05:27 AM is there still a parking lot across from the creek crossing ,over the RR tracks?

There's actually a huge parking lot beside the BP station and Shoney's where we usually unload. It's right off the 134 exit and just a few miles from the creek crossing.
I talked to the wife about riding that day. She reminded me that we are supposed to have family in that day...:shaking:frigging inlaws :D Anyway, if theres a way for me to get out, I'll be there...cold or not!
BSFOR 01-30-2009, 04:16 PM I saw some of you guys register on our forum. Thanks and welcome!!!
BSFOR 02-03-2009, 09:51 PM Just to update. Plan is still to leave at 11:00 from the old perkins resteraunt. If anyone is planning on meeting us at the creek crossing on old 63 that would be great. My name is Treye and I will be in the black jeep wrangler with grey softtop. I look forward to meeting everyone.
