: NP435 Help...

After looking through 7 pages worth of search I can't seem to find valuable info on the clutch set up.

Here are the plans..
AMC 360 and a NP435 from a 78 ford

I currently have a T-18 coupled to the 360 but it's in need of a rebuild. Too much gear wine for me at highway speed.

Questions..
Will the same 11" clutch work that I have now work? It has the same spline count as the NP435

Pilot bushing seems to be larger with the T-18 and there was mention of one from AA.

I have the T-150 bell housing with all the linkage, will this work with the clutch from the T-18?

If this has been discussed or dragged out to death I appologise for the repost.

Thanks for the response :D

When I put a NP435 behind my 4.2, I converted to a hydro clutch using stock jeep master and slave. But, you should be able to use your stock stuf. Are the splines the same, I seem to recall the NP435 being 10 spline, and 1 1/16" diameter. I'm not sure if that is the BH you need, I know one of the stock jeep BH's bolt right up to the 435. If that one is common to the T150/T176 then I think it will work.

What are you mating to the NP435? A D300? Have you converted the NP435 already? The AA NP435 to D300 has a new pilot bushing in it (if I remember right, could be wrong, but they definitely source the necessary bushing).

Probably more questions then help...

for right now it's a divorced 435 that will be used in my tow slut of a wagoneer. Great towing first gear. The T-18 and the 435 BOTH have a ten spline input shaft, that's why I'm thinking the clutch would work if the pilot bushing is ok. I will be doing this on Saturday and would like it to go as smooth as possible. :crossingfingers:

My experience with them has the front end of both transmissions being dimensionally the same.

Provided that they're both Ford boxes and not IH or Dodge or something like that.
