Of course I'll be there!!!!
Is J&D Offroad doing a major thing again? I'm sure Russ is ready for a big deal down at his park. Probably have the live band again. I wonder if they will have the mechanical bull this year? ;)
Be there Sat and Sun is my plan.... No major wheelin' plans, just put around and watch the show, then hammer the stuff that's not too busy and take lots of Pics. It's gonna be plenty hot and humid, maybe we can get a wet t-shirt deal going (not the guys, the girls  :D )...
Steve should have the Blazer (what's left of it) running, so he'll want to go hit all the big walls to test it out. I'm sure the wall at Little blue is calling his name. I've got an idea of something new to try over there as well (maybe 'down' Ltl' blue for a change)...
I would like to do a mad dash thru the trails early Sat morning before it gets too crowded.
Go2Guy 08-22-2002, 12:53 PM I wanna hit the walls early too! I went Tuesday night this week with my new stretched, lighter setup and scaled all that Pro Rock kicked me on (even crawled most of it) I was concerned about belly rub with my extra 5" of WB but not a scratch. I'm going to narrow the track a little for Sat and see how it does (will be 75/74) at outside of tires.
see you guys there!
OK- hows the new lower control arms holding up??

On mine or on Jayson's? Jayson snapped his at ProRocks. He's since rebuilt them with full trusses. No more problems now... I did replace mine recently, an inch longer and out of 1-3/8 solid bar stock! They are not going anywhere either.. :)
I'm trying to get back with the KS guys about a Joplin trip Saturday [edit: this Saturday 8/24]. If that falls thru we will probably abort and drop back to Disney.... But, I'd like to go scout out the new place, that is if I can find out where it is and know we can get thru the gate..
Go2Guy 08-22-2002, 01:12 PM Sorry, I did get you guys mixed up- I know I see you both there from time to time.
Ken
superzuki 08-23-2002, 10:32 AM Have you seen anyone besides the big tire guys go down Lil' Blue successfully? I have watched several guys try it but none successful.
Jas
Go2Guy 08-23-2002, 11:23 AM I know it's all relative- I've been down it with 37's 35's and 38.5's which measure 36"ish.
RKCRAWLER 08-23-2002, 11:35 AM ken --whats up?? I will be competeing in hot springs weekend after labor day. You still gonna be there????
Go2Guy 08-23-2002, 11:42 AM Rkcrawler- glad to hear you'll be there. I'll be getting in around 8-9 PM Friday PM.
I may need a spotter if you know of any. Sign up for the Supercrawl yet??
Ken
RKCRAWLER 08-23-2002, 12:12 PM Where are you stayn in hot springs?? camping?? I will be at the knights inn. I can spot if it comes down to it. But I do not know anybody w/exper. in spoting in comp. other than me and the guy who spotted for me in AL. I am still debating on the supercrawl. I have to talk it over w/the boss(wife).

I went down it last year on my 33's, but it was real ugly! Took several tries and I ended up inverting and bending the crap out of my left front leaf spring! If you have any kind of bumper, it sucks. :) Have not tried it yet ;) with my coils....
Go2Guy 08-23-2002, 12:19 PM I'm camping at the off road park campground- whereever that is- never been there. Looks like I've got my hauler sold- taking a deposit next week with delivery after this season (Supercrawl for me). will try the trailer/ hotel/ tent thing for a while-
Ken
RKCRAWLER 08-23-2002, 12:45 PM The camping area is inside the park. It is a cool place. Good to hear you sold the trailer/camper/sleeper/jeep hauler/over all cool conglamerate. Extra $$$ for the Jeep!! Anyway --see ya there.
superzuki 08-23-2002, 01:37 PM Ok-
I've pulled into it and with 33 tsl and YJ's on the front I just pounded my spring. The coil set up should really help you with the left front climb. I tore my front DS apart last night to replace a ball joint and axle shaft and found the ball joint was much worse than I thought. I'd been meaning to replace it since about 3 trips ago............ Should have it back together tonight - I think I'm going to redo the graphics on it again and IF I have time I'm going to sway front springs (bent again) and swap to a 1 ton truck steering box.
Do you know of any 26 x 12.50 sx's for sale???
Jas
superzuki 08-23-2002, 01:38 PM I mean 36" 12.50" SX's (stupid fat fingers.....)

Wasn't that what came stock on the Samurai? :D
I know of some 'used' 36" TSL Radials that may be available soon..... WELL USED, off Jayson's. For the right deal, he'll even give you the tubes! ;) :D
I'll keep an eye out for the SX's....
I'm also in the market for some 33" Bias TSLs, if you stumble onto any.....
superzuki 08-23-2002, 02:06 PM 33" 12.50" bias TSL's is what I've been running on mine for about 3 years, They are about as tall as buddies 35 15.50 SX's and 35" boggers. I've had rally good luck with then, but they are getting pretty chewed up and I'd like to go to a taller tire.
I think Jayson's are a little too gone for my tastes.... :-)
Jas
RKCRAWLER 08-23-2002, 02:09 PM I have a buddy in memphis who is sellingl his 36-12.5 sx's. Call Ian @1-901-332-5800. That is 4wheel parts number. He works there(shop forman). Ask for Ian Hope this helps

I've looked real hard at the 35 SX, but they are awefull wide for my 8" wheels (beadlocks) and a lot for my big block 1.6.. :)
For me, anything but a Radial! I'm :barf: of cutting tires every trip!
And yes, Jayson's is long gone. I think he dug them out of a grave somewhere to start with.. ;) But, you should have seen the look on the guys faces at ProRocks when Jayson started crawling the courses with those wore out tires! Those west coast guys just don't get the Disney rocks.. :)
Go2Guy 08-23-2002, 02:41 PM Anybody remember John Sumner's 38.5 sx's he used to run a few yrs back- they were some of the sorriest looking tires I ever saw but they seemed perfect for disney traction.:D

It's been more than a few years since John was on 38.5's... :) Did it actually look like a Scrambler back then.... I think there's some old pics on the extreme page, but that was before my time... :p

Have you heard if anything is going on at Russ's?
The only are a closed off is to playground above the waterfall, right?
We're coming down Sat. morning, think it will be very busy? (i.e. should we have someone snag some camping sites on Friday?)

Right, you cannot go north of the powerlines. The playground is off and so is one obsticle on the main spillway but I forget its name, like dino back or something, nothing big anyway.
gunracer1 08-27-2002, 02:13 PM when i drove up there i saw the dog leg at the end of oldblue and said, shit i will never make that with my overhang. so i took a left right where those people are sitting and tried to crawl out. 5 minutes later i was still in the same spot. stuck at 90 degrees with my back bumper up againgst the wall on the other side. started wondering what the hell i was going to do. then the tires dried off and i drove right up in to that wall above it. had to back up 20 times to make that damn turn. mike

J&D Offroad is doing their "Offroad Extreme" run again this year. Runs Aug 31 and Sept 1. That should all be based out of Russ's park.
Russ has exteneded the camping area a bit, so there should be plenty of room. If you have a preferred spot, you'll have to get there early. Russ did agree to reserve some areas, but only for groups. He would not reserve a single spot for one person (too hard to keep track of).
I think Jeep_tj_freek answered your question on the closed areas....
I'll be out there early Sat morning. I'd like to make a run thru the trails before it get too crowded. Got some new (street wore) 33 Bias to try out.. ;) :D I may not be around long Sunday, got some other stuff going on for the weekend..
Jason, post a pic of your rig to remind me and I'll look for ya.. :)
gunracer1 08-27-2002, 02:17 PM o yea i did drive down that hugh water fall that chris duram climbed. had all the locals come over and ask if i was nuts. tried climbing it but had no more luck than anyone else[except duram, and that guys got balls, big ones]. but we are doing yaunish this weekend. mike

gunracer1 08-27-2002, 02:21 PM what are you asking? i am not dumb, just alittle slow. mike

Or e-mail it to me, I'll post it...
Edit: Send it here okcrawler@hotmail.com
You need to do it before 5pm, or it'll have to wait. Once I leave work I'll be busy mounting tires.. :)
okcrawler 08-27-2002, 02:50 PM I'll be looking for ya.. :)
Here you are Jason:
superzuki 08-29-2002, 08:50 AM Thanks OKc.
Did you get the Bias's mounted? Like 'em better? Probably flat-spot worse but a much tougher tire.....

Yea, got them mounted last night. They track like sh!t on the street! :) Oh well, that's not what I bought them for... They also eat up a lot of HP. My big block Suzuki motor has to work to run 60 MPH now.
I took the grooving iron to them as well. I weighed the 'scrap' bucket last night... 4.3 lbs of rubber cut off 4 tires! Should be plenty of bite... :D
superzuki 08-29-2002, 09:36 AM I've been going to groove mine since new but have never gotten around to it. The tires are really soft now from being hot so many times but the gooving would probably still help. I need some sharp corners, all the lugs are getting pretty rounded.
Jas
YELLER BLAZER 08-29-2002, 10:12 AM Took Yeller to the exhaust shop this morning, I'll be there!
I feel a few walls calling my name
Lance Morin 08-29-2002, 12:46 PM I've not been do Disney since the Fall of 2000. What obtacle was this? I was in my 4Runner with 33" TSL back then and the truck was bobbed 12". Of course, no front bumper as you can see.
Lance Morin 08-29-2002, 12:47 PM Here's the wider view before I came down and waved at everybody...
Lance Morin 08-29-2002, 12:49 PM I'd like to get an groups of use from FWD-FWD to come back up to Disney. Maybe in November or something...
I had a blast up there and I hear the area where the trails are is more developed now.
Go2Guy 08-29-2002, 12:49 PM Lance- that's lil blue- going down, theres some alternate routes more or less straight up the wall to either side and a little ahead of your truck.
ken
gunracer1 08-29-2002, 12:50 PM isn't that the dog leg at the top of oldblue. i have only been there once and i didn't get any of the names down till i saw a mag artical that had them in pix. mike
gunracer1 08-29-2002, 12:52 PM ok lil blue then

I thought so...
I tried this, but I keep loosing traction and bailed after a few attempts. Falling into that undercut wasn't on my plans that weekend.
