I've searched..almost got what I wanted from a pic by JoshC in a steering related thread.
Going to look at a few trucks this weekend.
Could I get some front pics of both D60 and D44? I'd like a straight on shot of the diff housing and the spring pad.
Dodge D60's do they have two studs instead of a full u-bolt next to the diff like the Chevys?
Thanks,
Mike
or even a link to some pics.
I think I crashed the PBB database Searching earlier. :D

What exactly are you looking for? What are your plans for this front end?
I'll try to get better pics up tomorrow.
But really. Are you trying to make sure you know the difference between a 44 and a 60? Perhaps the difference between a 1/2 ton and a 3/4 ton? Fulltime vs PT hubs?
Mine is an 8 lug, fulltime 44 out of a 75? W200. It has the two studs on the inside of the diff spring perch.

all 75 and newer Dodge leaf spring axles have the two studs in the passenger side inner spring pad..74 and older had U bolts..
Okay if you can shoot pics thats great, But I think you two guys answered my questions. I haven't seen any of these trucks and two are pretty far away so I didn't want to leave wondering WTH I was looking at.
I was a little confused because one of the guys I spoke to said D60 front. I asked him if was sure and his response was "absolutley it has the studs into the diff just like all the Chevy D60's". I was pretty sure that didn't make it a D60.
I'm just looking for a 3/4 or 1 ton. I made a trade for some consulting time for a recently rebuilt 440 / 727. No miles on the engine / tranny. So I thought I'd like to find it a home and something for me to play with.
Never owned a Dodge so I just started searching all the Dodge threads for axle and steering related topics to see what was coveted.
Thanks for the info.

There's some nice line art here: http://www.coloradok5.com/axleguide.shtml I've got one of each at home but haven't been able to find the camera yet (moved recently). In the webbing on the lower right hand corner (as you look at the cover) there will be a number cast in; ie. 44-30F, 60, etc. This usually works but the 61 (and some of the others) has some other BS cast in there. If you really want to know, clean off the axle tube and write down the BOM numbers. http://www2.dana.com/expert/wc.dll?DSD~deabill~2
You can also search by make and model to see what "should" be in there.

Sorry for the delay. Here's a Dodge D44 front:

easiest way i know of to make sure it is a dana 60, is look at the knuckles. All the older dana 60's (basically what your looking for) have king pins, while the dana 44's have ball joints. So ask how many bolts hold on the steering arm. If there are 3 bolts it is a dana 44, if there are 4, it is a dana 60.
BTW, lloyd, got any pics of the whole truck, expecally after those gm springs are on it?
