Ya, they don't clean out so well without a lot of wheel speed but bogger's daily drive worse then krawlers do mud so it's a decent compromise for me.

Russell from Ardrossan / Edmonton here. I've got a 1980 GMC K25 with a turbocharged 6.2L diesel, NV4500 / NP241 and locked 4.56 diffs. 4" lift with 33" street tires. If I ever get around to grinding the calipers down up front, I have a set of 35" boggers I can run offroad.

Just about to hit the pavement with it, currently sporting a blue / white two tone front end, red box, and a seperate blue colored endgate. Good to see a couple familiar faces around!

Well I used to reside in Calgary, but am now in Cold Lake..

Currently out of the country again with work but should be back in Aug sometime.

Can't wait either as I ordered my ORI struts and I have a fresh 416 mog front waiting for me to clean all the brackets off to help speed up my buggy project.

Project about to go under the knife:

91 Chev crew 1 ton cab and frame, 93 Dodge w350 with ctd, dana 60/70 gutbag 360/205.

Plan is to stuff the Dodge gear into the Chev for now. Run it as is and get the kinks out. Then hopefully lift er a lil, bob the back, hack the fenders, slap on some 41" roks, and a lil tubework.

We'll see how that all pans out.

Before i built a 92 cherokee, chopped, caged, and with 35 boggers and grand waggy diffs with 4.88's and welded front and rear.

I bet I could make a 6 cylinder make your v8 look silly in a mud bog and on the trail. It's alot easier to get 1000 hp from an inline 6 than whatever your running.

Or, lets just make it cheap and simple, both must be carbed, oh, damn I win again. I have seen 4.3L V6s with over 1000HP but they're twin turbo'd, put twins on a big block and you can easily get 1500HP+. As far as making me look silly at a mud race...it hasnt happened yet, anytime I've been beat, its been by an equally healthy V8. Stay within the rules of inductions for the mud races, and no 6 cylinder will ever be in the top 3 at the end of the weekend.

Diesel, cummins, ok I'm down with that. However, the cost of building a reliable 1000+HP diesel engine=trans is way more then any big block (except mopar LOL) not to mention way heavier. It can be done, I have seen it, and they can be built to go crazy fast. But if budget had no limit to build the diesel setup, then I guess the BB build would have th same budget, and probably still win since it'd be much lighter...I win, LOL.:flipoff2:

HAHA no no, the short bus is for guys that like 4.0L 6 cylinder engines and a 120:1 crawl ratio:flipoff2:

And the class would be the biggest one at any event I've gone to, more competition. Up to 40" tires, no cuts, must be carbed or factory injected, NO AFTERMARKET TURBOES ETC. Some people don't understand what that means, if the engine came with one from the factory and still has the FACTORY turbo/supercharger etc in place, it is legal. No nitrous, no 4 link, must have stock style suspension for year/make/model. Can't remember any other rules off the top of my head right now (been up for 36 hours...time for bed):p

Bubba has come out a few times, but for the most part no. The only thing that sucks about the CMRO is its too far south for us northern boys to come play at every race. They're workin on making there own association up here right now, hope it goes through, would be nice to have an official group!!

Currently driving a stock 09 Taco. I used to have a nissan, hence the username. Most of my offroading is on 2 wheels these days, hell, most of my snow time is on 2 wheels as well.

There is probably more lifted "Rig Rockets" here then all other provinces combined...:shaking: So I don't think insurance will be a problem for you. I've got my truggy plated as an ATV but insured as a 1980 toyota pickup.

And I mean for liability only, not some big gay show truck. Might be moving out there for work next year so I just want to have my bases covered!

Anyone with truggys/buggys I wouldn't mind if you could chime in either... do you guys have them plated?

i had mine plated and insured as an OHV, but got screwed over due to the fact that my original cherokee vin was left on the dash and a new vin wasnt created and "certified" Had to pay a large amount for no insurance or registrtation on a motor vehicle. Just some heads up for anyone running ohv insurance. From now on i run motor vehicle insurance on anyhing that isnt a pure tube chassis.

on the gravel road next to the trail entrance. Its just a click or so down the road to my friends place and we usually just drive to his place but a cop was cruzing down the roadway and saw a bunch of us and so we were all pulled over and let the tickets begin! live n learn.

lol you can watch all you want but unless you drive by my garage pad you wont see it..... it will probably be sitting on my trailer.. it has long been to modified too much to daily drive on the street. Currently the only group that gets together in Alberta that I'm aware of is the NA4WDA. http://173.212.145.154/forums/index.php

I have never wheeled with them, and don't think I ever will. The forum is plagued with deleted posts, and a ton of other stupidity that makes the whole group look dumb.:shaking: It's too bad really, I'm sure there are a few good people among them.

It's so bad that I don't even post my build threads there.

Seems that wheeling in an organized manner isn't really that popular right now... Most of the forums are suffering all kinds of attendance and participation issues.

NA4WDA just changed shuffled management, so we'll see what happens there... I know the new pres has issues with elitist attitudes that are common with some of those guys.

For the most part I wheel with the Edmonton Jeep Club. Great core group of folks in that club! The McMurray Jeep guys are fantastic too, no other clubs up here that I am aware of...

Yup the management has changed and we will be making some drastic changes.........back to friendly.....back to wheelin !!!

AND the deleting thing will be watched....we are going to try a more "Open approach to the forum.......there will still be rulez to follow but alot more open!!!

Hopefully we can bring things back to the "FUN" and "FRIENDLY" aspect!!!

have you been out with the calgary jeep club? they are a very respectable bunch of guys! dont mind throwing some mud but always looking out for people abusing the trails.
