Your request to hold an Extreme Off-Road Racing event at New Egypt Speedway on April 4th,
2009 is granted as a demonstration event for the purpose of evaluation.
There is currently no Sub-chapter in 13:62 directly pertaining to XOR racing. Having reviewed
your situation, it is felt that approval for your event will enhance automotive racing in New
Jersey while not adversely affecting safety. It is advised that you review 13:62, Sub-chapter 2, as
it pertains to all racing events held in New Jersey. Should the event be a success, future re-writes
of the Chapter 62 rules will include a separate Sub-chapter for Extreme Off-Road Racing, to
which licensee’s and participants will adhere to.
As a prerequisite to the granting of this permission, the following rules are set forth:
1. All drivers shall wear a properly secured helmet which meets the most recent Snell
Memorial Foundation testing standards, M or SA. Motocross helmets are prohibited.
2. No vehicle shall carry more than one person at any time during a race or practice
event.
3. Co-drivers will remain in the pit area during race and practice events. At no time will
anyone other then designated track officials, flaggers and starters be permitted on the
track during race and practice events.
4. The track layout shall be configured so as to provide maximum protection to track
workers, scorers and spectators.
5. A quick release type safety belt, shoulder harness and crotch belt shall be required on
all vehicles. All safety belts and shoulder harnesses shall bear the date of manufacture
and shall not be used for more than two years from that date.
6. Restrictions under 13:62-2.8 ( Pit Credentials ) will be suspended for the event with
the stipulation that the pit must remain “ Cold ”. In the event a deviation is observed,
your event will be held to the State Code for pit credentials and age restrictions.
7. A window net or screen shall be securely installed on the driver’s side of all
participating vehicles.
8. All drivers shall wear a minimum of one layer of fire resistant material covering their
body, legs and arms. It is recommended that all drivers wear fire-resistant gloves,
shoes, socks and head sock. Work Boots shall constitute the minimum foot protection.
9. All drivers shall be at least 17 years of age and possess a valid drivers license.
Participants under the age of 18 will require a consent form to be completed by a
parent or legal guardian prior to any participation.
10. All vehicles shall have a drive shaft loop installed not more than 24 inches from
the front and rear yokes.
11. Fuel tanks shall not be mounted within the drivers compartment. A firewall or barrier
constructed of 20 - gauge metal, or 1/8 lexan must separate the driver from the fuel
tank.
12. Fuel line or fuel pump is prohibited in the driver’s compartment unless properly
shielded to prevent leakage in the event the line or pump is damaged or broken. This
shielding shall consist of steel braided material.
13. All other general rules pertaining to racing shall remain in effect.
A member of the Racing Control Unit will be present to monitor and evaluate your event in
reference to the manner it is conducted and for the overall safety of the participants. Please keep
in mind that Troopers assigned to monitor your event may impose restrictions in the interest of
public safety.

Seems like there are a bunch of scared people in the North East that like to run their mouth about wishing there were some comps but fall short when it comes to put up or shut up.
We'll be there.

Been a long time since we have been to New Egypt to run or even see one. Maybe we will stop at the first race. We ran the mud bog at Atco a few years back. We use to get a great turnout. Have you posted on the NMRO site? W e had a 30 car field in open. Good luck with it maybe we can talk and see if we can get you some of the "BIG BOYS" to come out and play!

Well thanks for the reply and to answer your question NO I havent posted anything up there. Also if your refering to mud bog trucks they are not going to be running the course unless you have DOT tires and also a cage and all that good stuff. The mud bogs are a totally different event and animal. Thanks for the inquiry Jason

All the trucks in open are caged running sfi approved equipment. And running dot tires cut. I don't know your rules format. Stock appearing trucks with a tire of say 38" inch or 40". 3 link and 4 link chassis. All different kinds of ways to format classes. I don't know how your format classes what engine, power adder, tires.
I know we use to get guys that have 1300hp 4 link front and back with a glass body were running dot tires and trying to run with stock leaf spring trucks...Yeah we fell of the idiot boat. We had guys comming from all over the states. Ron "Tater" Pense. 1800hp blown and injected big blk 200ft in a couple of seconds.
I etched all our vehicles.
Experience
83 TO 89 Crewed on a couple of open class trucks and eventually became Crew chief. Plus alot of Drag Racing in between.
90-91 ATCO raceway Mud bog straight run 200ft flat track
1990 to 1998 "Crew Chief" NHRA TAFC 18 divisional wins 1 Wally
Not trying to sound like a know it all. But I understand alittle about how these work.

I am not doubting you at ALL. If you go to www.newegyptspeedway.net and check out the video under off-road that is something like what we are doing here in NJ. Just an example. If guys can pass tech and are able to take jumps and climb walls and have no glass

Thanks Jason
I will see what our plans are for the season. not to get in the middle of anything but I also have many trophys from New Egypt mudhops from back in the day and this racing is totally different. A mud racer like Ron Pense races will not make it around the coarse.
