: Air tank question.

The air setup i currently have consists of a Quick Air and an ARB LINKED TOGETHER to run the ARB lockers, with an additional airline running to a quick connect. Running both compressors together i can inflate a 33" MT from 16 to 32psi in 3 minutes, so they have the ability to work pretty good.
However i am wondering a couple of things. I was given a 5 gallon airtank recently and i was thinking of hooking it up to my compressors for extra storage.
1) Would the compressors be ok filling up, and maintaining, a 5 gallon tank? Or would it F them up?
2) Would the work involved be worth it? Would i get enough stored air to make a difference in airing up myself (and others). Obviously i am not even considering running air tools (i know the limitations of 2 small compressors!), so this would JUST be for airing up, lockers, and other light uses.
Any advice would be appreciated, Thanks.

they will be fine airing them up, it will problaly make them slower to air up your tires, buecaseu it has to air a 5 gallon tank too

Size, or in this case volume, does matter. i.e. The 5 gallon tank could come in handy.

Just be sure to run an unloader valve in between the compressor heads and the reservoir.

Well, thats the thing. How much air will a 5 gallon tank be holding at around 90-100 psi (current pressure switch is +/- 105 psi)? I guess i'm wondering if i could get at least a couple of tyres just from the tank before the compressors have to kick in.

You could also stand a chance at reseating a bead with the 5 gallon tank. Where as you have a chance in hell in doing it with the two compressors.

any volumn you can get will help. i have a 2 gal tank and i can even run a impact for short periods of time. enough to remove a tire and put it back on. also have reset a few beads.

the tank is definitely worth the install time, one day you'll wonder what you ever did w/o it...

Walmart $20 7 gallon here. perfect. Better than no tank at all

Add a 1/4 turn ball valve between the compressors and the tank. Let the compressors fill the tank while your wheeling, then when you air up, use all the air out of the tank, and when it's pressure has dropped off shut the valve, then your compressors aren't trying to fill the tank and the tires. But yes, it would certainly help.

one thing about the tank is that it allows the compressor to keep working while you walk from tire to tire. without a tank, the compressor is only working as you actually fill a tire, but with a tank it will be filling the tank as you walk from tire to tire (or somewhere else) giving it a headstart when you get to the next one. Did that make any sense?
