: Rear sway bar ????
Rubiclone 01-30-2009, 04:13 PM Installing a triangulated rear long arm on my LJ. I do drive the Jeep on the road but not as a DD. Do I really need the rear sway bar? What do you think the on road ride would be like with only the front sway bar? Would it be unsafe or just loose???? By the way its a 5.5" lift. Opinions welcome.

Yes...
Rubiclone 01-31-2009, 02:59 PM A little more detail please!!!!!
jeepjack 01-31-2009, 03:37 PM Actually no, I do not run one and it handles just fine.
Austin4x4 01-31-2009, 03:46 PM it depends on what type of spring set up you use. but just to be safe on the street i would say go with a antirock style.
Slangy 01-31-2009, 04:18 PM I don't have one but whenever I am driving on the road I make damn sure my front one is hooked up or it gets a little squirrley. Offroad it is not to big of a problem I don't think

It helps a lot when your off camber. Try it with and without, you'll see the difference. I tried both setups and now run with the sway bar...
Rubiclone 02-02-2009, 06:00 AM Thanks for the input, greatly appreciated.:D
burrellsjeep 02-02-2009, 02:30 PM I don't run one and IMO it drives the same, I can barely tell it not there. I might go with an antirock for offroad one day, but as far as on road, Mine is fine. I have a TJ 5.5 lift.
Knuckelhead 02-02-2009, 05:11 PM Yes, on the road it will be fine. It's off road where you will see the difference. Without is not better...IMO
Rubiclone 02-03-2009, 04:31 AM Well with that I am now certain that I am for sure going to use one when I am off and on the road but will probably not use one when I plan to go off or on the road. Thanks for the help and clarification guys..:D
Just kidding, I will try it both ways and make my own decision. I just didnt want to go into an out of control death wobble type situation on the highway the first time I tried it without.

I ran into issues getting my factory rear sway to clear properly on my 8.8 after the swap, So thats how I ended up with out one. Like I said I will get the antirock sway when I can afford it. But for now I will run like it is.

Thats exactly the reason for my question. I am having clearance issues as well and I have heard of folks running without them. Just wanted to get a few more opinions. Thanks for yours.
jeepjack 02-03-2009, 05:47 AM I have no rear sway bar, and when I disconnected the front off road it was too much lean in just about any off camber situation. I installed an antirock in the front and it works great. Still no sway bar in the rear, daily driver.
