First you mention a RE 4.5" lift.

Then you mention your buddy's YJ. So we're led to assume you're asking this question on behalf of your buddy's YJ.

Then you mention your V8 and NV4500. Okay, maybe you're swapping your motor and tranny into your buddy's YJ ... we'll hang on for a second.

Then you mention your current lift and sagging issues.

Just what the fawk are you asking newbie?

He has a 87 Jeep YJ and currently has a LT1 SB with the NV4500. He has a 3.5" Rough country lift with add a leaves. The springs have sagged on him and he wants better springs. However he is affraid the samer thing might happen with the RE's. So that is why I am asking for him. Will the 4.5" RE's hold up.

I have a 88 YJ that I am currently in the process of installing a 350 with a SM465. I promise you this really is a friend. Why he does not join??? Your guess is as good as mine.

Yes they will hold up a lot better than your Roughboy Backdoor Country ones. Question answered...go away :flipoff2:

some full size waggy bds front springs MIGHT be in order. 450 lb/in spring rate. BDS YJ lift springs are around 325 lbs/in.

I agree.

If you are worried about sagging, bet BDS. They have a no small print warrenty, I run the bds 3.5" YJ springs on my CJ, front springs front and back. Flexes real well, has not sagged, and you will get more that 3.5"

go SOA, you'll get more than 4.5" but with a V8 they'll sag down more than a pair of old TITTYS (.)(.)

That's basically the same setup I'm running (RE 4.5 XD SUA, SBC 350, NV4500, NP241) and it's even on an '87 YJ (not that the year makes any difference ;) ). I've had the lift on for close to three years now and the engine in for half a year or so and nothing is sagging yet. (I also have a winch on the front, of course). Not saying that it won't, mind you, just that it hasn't started doing it yet. :D An SBC doesn't weigh much more than a 258. The tranny, OTOH, is MUCH heavier than the Peugeot (Puke-joke?) that it replaced.

Incidentally, the springs DID lose just a hair (maybe 1/2-inch or so) after I initially installed them and wheeled it a few times, back when I had a mostly-stock drivetrain. Once the springs settled though, it's stayed the same ever since.

HTH,
Jake
