do any of you know what the small threaded hole on the top of the box, at the very front does/is for?

i vaguely noticed it when installing, but didn't think to much about it as it is semi covered by my front valance (lower and to the right of the driver's side headlight)
since it was an old junk yard one, the hole had been full of grease/gunge obscuring the threads from view.

i went out playing in the mud on the weekend, and got everything covered in an orange coloured clay-based kinda stuff, which then showed clearly that this hole is threaded.
(and now full of mud :D )

WTF? is there s'posed to be a threaded fill plug or something there? is it for something that is bolted from the inside of the gear box itself?
hopefully it's not allowed grit and crud down into the innards...:(
i can't really get at it to get a look with a flash light or anything.
any takers on a guess?

I wondered the same thing myself. It probably contains a thingamabober doohickey :D . They all look like the same. I am not sure if they are a blind tap or have a deep plug in them, but I am sure they are not "open holes"

The little threaded hole is to attach a clamp around the factory hose on some Toy applications, such as Cressida, where the box lives behind the front axle center line. No plug needed.

Toyoda is the heavy equipment portion of the Co. sort of like a Japenese catipilar
