I loaned my propane lantern to my son and never saw it again....:shaking:

Is the dual fuel worth the extra cash? I need one this week......

I have one called the dual fuel powerhouse for around 10 years. it is supposed to run on unleaded gas or coleman fuel. I always use coleman fuel and it has been flawless

I also have the dual fuel powerhouse about 20 years old. I used unleaded at first but the generator didn't last all that long(5 years). Replaced the generator and have been running white fuel ever since on the same generator.

If I were to replace it I think I would get a propane one with the tube type mantel. I have never used one, but it looks like the mantel would hold up to wheeling a little better.

What's this tube style mantel? I use it as much for heat as light.

The only reason I was looking at the dual fuel was convenience of using gas..... I hate those propane tanks, once they are tapped they always leak out on me.

Here is the propane one I have thought about getting:

I think my biggest problem with the unleaded gas was leaving gas in it and the gas going bad. I would use it and put it away for the year then pull it out the next and use it again. Eventually the generator was plugged completely off. If you use the lantern a lot and dump the gas before long storage, you probably won't have any problems.

I have the dual fuel and run only Coleman fuel. Never a problem with storage. I always store it full, no condensation or varnish buildup that way. If you store them dry the tank can rust and get a layer of dry varnish in it. The gas lantern will burn in colder temps better than the propane. Just make sure to oil the pump every now and then. The worst is a dried out pump and no oil. I like the coleman fuel stuff better than propane. Just my opinion though. You can run a stove and lantern a long time on a gallon of fuel.
